Antagonizing isn't leading to a rivalry?

Hey all,

As title states: I'm trying to antagonize someone into dueling me, but they've got the patience of a Saint. I'm getting events to constantly anger him, but nothing more comes out of it. I'm already at -100 with the target.

Any tips? Is there just a RNG/waiting element to it?

hmm i could be wrong but try right clicking the targets portrait
and then there is a list of options to challange target to a duel if you have the war focus i think

War focus is up, but we're neither rivals, nor foes. Everything else is ticked, but he just doesn't want to fight. :D

If you're not making a rivalry through antagonize then maybe try murdering one of their close kin and hope you get caught.

I had a rival that was close kin and at -100 opinion
but when i clicked to duel the guy keeps refusing me? grr
he had really bad combat skills too

The guy is the pope, unfortunately. Worked on the first one,

After what felt like the 80th event, I finally became rivals with him, and killed him.

I'm Flykja, I've reformed the Germanic Pagan religion, and I have a couple friends who are playing as Christian rulers, and a couple friends on my side. So to... Er, assert my dominance, I've decided I'm going to kill the ol' Pope boy.

My previous ruler has duelled him (after he rejected the initial duel offer), and my current ruler has killed one just recently, as well. (And already antagonizing the next!) ;)

You tried to duel his Holiness? Good grief. Check the rules on dueling. On game beginning menu it should indicate the target(s) based on your choices. Also check the wiki.

Not just *tried*, my good friend. So far I've killed 3 popes, and just about to get the 4th. I just wished that I got these rivalries faster, rather than getting the same event over and over until they eventually become my rivalry.

Just doesn't make sense that they sit on -100 with me for like, 20 years at a time until they decide to announce something about it.

IIRC, you can't turn someone into a rival through antagonize if you already have 5 (living) rivals.

Anyway, I usually find a discovered assassination plot is much faster in allowing duels.

This... Might actually be the problem. Due to being in the Wolf Warriors, I'm not exactly liked by many of them. I should probably try to find my rivals and get through them.
