Empire of Scandinavia
Scandinavia only encompasses Norway and Sweden with Denmark considered... Why is there iceland, finland, part of russia, and estonia in the mix as de jure? Isnt the better geographical term Fennoscandia? Which is a real geographical peninsula that covers everything except denmark and iceland... Or is just Nordic Empire better because that seems the better word for what the Empire of Scandinavia has as de jure? Did the developers just put Scandinavia because it was a easy term and most people assume these places as Scandinavian so they just put it as the empire of scandinavia or is there some history that I dont know? I know no one asks these questions but it just came to mind :P

Scandinavia is just a more familiar name, and people do often associate at least Finland and Iceland with Scandinavia despite not being Germanic or on the landmass respectively. The Nordic Empire is however a nice alternative now that you mention it...

Well, no such political entity ever existed. It's just a fictional empire that they added to make the northern part of the map more interesting. As for the limits of it: Iceland and the islands were historically a part of Norway during the period of the game, and was colonized from Norway. And Finland was indeed conquered and converted by Sweden. For centuries it was then fought over by the Swedes and Russians, and the first independent Finland emerged in 1917.

Thought so, I'm guessing they put Scandinavia because that's one of the most common peninsulas naming the nordic regions although I think fennoscandia seems a more logical peninsula that should be a commoner name ALTHOUGH ALTHOUGH Scandinavia has a nice roll off the tongue so... You know meh :P

But that isn't a thing. Scandinavia is the name of the peninsula, and Finland is a part of that peninsula. It's like wanting to rename the Iberian peninsula the Portuguese-Iberian peninsula. It's not about languages but politics. Finland, Iceland, Estonia and the isles were part of the three respective kingdoms in this area at the time; Sweden, Denmark and Norway; and not separate kingdoms. What the devs did therefore makes sense, sort of. But nothing else would have.

Fennoscandia is a thing... idk what you are talking about and finland isnt a part of the scandinavian peninsula... It just doesnt have parts of estonia, iceland and denmark and has all the rest of the de jure for the scandinvaian empire but as you have said sweden denmark and norway were the dominant kingdoms so therefore it should be named the scandinvian empire not the nordic nor fennoscandia empire but this sort of empire did not exist... and probably will never exist or wont be named such.

Quick edit to list some sites about fennoscandia: https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/fennoscandia
https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fennoscandia

And that Scandinavia does not have finland but only is comprised of denmark, norway and sweden...

The in-game empire is a fictional construct whose lands appear to be a combination of the Nordic countries (what we call Scandinavia + Finland and Iceland locally here in Sweden) and the old Swedish Empire.

The game is full of empires that don't totally make sense in terms of name and/or land area. Just roll with it. :)
