How to get out of being a tributary state?
I chose my character during the old gods in nubia (africa) and its a tributary state to the Sultan of egypt, cool. How do I get out of being a tributary state? More Soldiers? Land? Or another way out? I cannot read the requirements in game since its weird wish it was more simplier

It depends on the type of tributary. Usually you are released when the suzerein dies. So if the sultan is older than you or in bad health, you can just wait it out and you should outlive him and gain your independence. In the interim, spend your time kissing the sultan's ass and improve your relationship with him. This will increase the chance he will defend you if you are attacked, or possibly even join your wars against other targets you may attack as you try to expand.

I face this a lot as I like to play the petty kingdom of Essex, which starts out as a tributary of Mercia. Look for nearby targets of opportunity to expand your realm while you are still a tribute, build your infrastructure to increase your tax base and levies, and improve your realtionship with your suzerein until he dies. Really the only downside to being a tributary, at least in the short term, is the loss of income.

You can become independant if your suzerain has negative prestige, ceases to be independant, has smaller realm size or refuses to defend you in a war. You also break free if your suzerain is overtrown by a revolt or if you declare a war to free yourself.
