Reconquista overpowered?
I have played 5 ironman games now varying between 50 to 200 years each (3 769, 1 869, 1 1066) and I have noticed that in every game the Muslims in Spain are utterly obliterated. In fact with my latest Ashina game, I looked over after 26 years and all Muslims are gone from Spain and the Ummayad Sultanate no longer existed but instead there were 6 Christian kingdoms and 3 Christian duchies. I know 5 is not a sizable sample by any means but I was wondering if it happened for others? The Abbasids and Seljuks are still as strong as ever bar one crazy game where the Khazars subjugated all of the Abbasid Empire (including Egypt, Yemen, and Oman).

In my games (two long ironman games (early starts), one short non ironman where I cheated with my character, in scandinavia) the Spanish peninsula has been conqured by the muslims every time. But the Chrstians seems to retake it much faster and easier then in the past. Normally (if I was not in the area), the Christians would retake the area around 1050-1150. But now it happenes much faster.

But no, I have not seen them kick out the muslism before the crusades unify the christians.

What a shame no more Umayyad death star taking over Europe instead they are getting destroyed like irl.

In my game the Ummayad empire made it all the way to Brittany (earliest start date). It reamained under islamic leadership for a long time until I tried to destabilize it by assassinating their leaders, which was shockingly easy, and eventually the line of succession ran out of muslims and the leadership flipped to catholicism. At that point the religous border gore sorted itself out and it's almost entirely catholic now.

Everyone complains about it but I have never once seen it over the 1500 hours of playing

Seems cheesy but the game has its limitations

During 700 start it often happens. Mainly due to the HRE failing to form or breaking apart early. Very frustrating having them occupy Brittany and Aquitaine. Good if you like playing as the Caliphates. There is no great western power to block your advances into western Europe.

In my current Ashina game Charlemagne managed to win over Carlomans territory by faction demand and then Lombardy by faction demand. Thus he formed a Britanny-Denmark-Rome-Poland sized Holy Roman Empire within 15 years of the start date. It sucks because I subjugated the Byzantine Empire and settled in Constantinople and had the Pope crown me as a Catholic yet I cannot take on the might of this massive Holy Roman Empire just yet as I want to reform the actual Roman Empire but they own 7 needed duchies haha.

So you beat your local opponents and actually still have a challenge?
That sounds fun. Most of the time I become powerful there is noone who can really stop me.

In my 900 steam hours (and I would guess the same amount which has not been tracked)... I have seen the Umayyad taking over central EU, twice.. And I usually start the game in the 7-800 start, so they have a good oppetunity for it,
