Seems there is a restriction that you can't saint your own family if you are religious head.

why!? what kind of stupidity ??? you can fabricate claims yet you can't fabricate a story how your father split the sea?!
not salty, just surprised and overly excitable :D

Not really sure if its intended that way or if its about to be changed, but atm if you want saints you have to have a religious head that isnt you.

not too long ago i read a post regarding that topic (might have been on reddit, but i think it was here on steam). in that post, the person said something about only being able to venerate someone a certain time after their death, if i remember correctly. but really i'm not sure. i was looking for something different so i didn't pay much attention after the first few sentences of that post. google should be able to help you, if you search for "ancestor veneration" or something like that and look through the first 5 or 6 results that pop up.

Not relevant.

A few things, yes you can venerate your own dynasty members if they meet the check and pass it, no you can't venerate your previous religious head (or any former religious head) due to a bug/oversight. You can fix this in the files, but it will disable achievements.

Depending on the reform doctrines you picked determines what the game checks when a character dies.

alright so i should give away the religious head title if i want to have a saint ancestor?

I believe it is restricted to your dynasty, basically if you hand the religious head title to say you 3rd son and your first son is your primo heir, when you die the (now) 3rd brother cant saint your mutual dad.

Its why if you want saints you shouldn't be the temporal head of the religion, and are better off using the heirocratic leader option which creats a theocracy pope style head instead who isn't related to anyone.

However, if you are a temporal leader, you can saint basically everyone who is half assed when they die (you will receive a popup). At which point you can then marry one of their son's to a female dynasty member matrilineally and acquire their saints blood. allowing you to stack multiple, from dynasties all through your religion.

Had venerated ancesters on in hellenic game as a temporal head, and I have like 6 different saints bloods now on my characters along with all the other lines I've "acquired" through basically abductions during war and shotgun weddings.

Either that or change a line in the files from 3 to 0. I forget which line you change exactly, but searching on the CK II forums will get you your answer.

Veneration is largely random. Every now and then you will just get a popup saying "Should we venerate (Insert random count here)?". I believe it also has less of a chance to fire should the person be the religious head.
