Stealing Artifacts

Any good ways of getting artifacts that start randomly in a game, for instance Mjolnir will spawn randomly amongst the Norse lords. I just had a game where a temple vassal had the Mjolnir artifact, I imprisoned them and then executed but the artifact passed to the next heir to the temple. I know before Holy Fury the artifact had a good chance of transfering to my inventory but I tried it 2 more times on two different character vassals of the same temple and it passed too the new temple heir every time. :(

ofc it does, you only inherit from courtiers if they don't have a regular heir and in case of cities and temples that means the next mayor / bishop (priest whatever) is the heir.

If you want a chance, revoke the title and then you need to make sure that you are the liege-lord of your prisoner not somebody else. That way if he doesnt have a valid heir you as the liege have a chance to get the artefact on his death. (warning though: there is a solid chance that the artefact gets lost when being inherited that way, its way lower with a normal inheritance by a valid heir).

Another way to steal artefacts is to siege down the owners capital holding (not that well applicable in case of vassals).
Sometimes in wars that are a save win I check wich of the enemy vassals has artefacts then send an army to siege their castles, doesnt add much warscore but gives me a shot at getting the artefact.

well, in this particular case, you want to grant the temple independance, then wait 5 years (for the truce to wear off) and attack said temple for the dejure holdings of your county. this will allow you to siege the holding giving you A CHANCE to steal the artifact.

If you don't get it then grant him independance again and rinse repeat.

Buy a favor from him, revoke his temple, invite him back to your court via favor, grant him a castle/tribe, kill him, inherit artifact.
