So what do you do when you become immortal?
So I just encountered the immortality event chain for the time, was taught by some buddhist child, and became immortal with my first character in this run. What do I do now with my immortal character? I am thinking now that I have done the event chain, I might just figure out a way to get myself killed since having the same character forever seems kind of boring.

It might also not be the best to be eternally known as a crazy cat lord. (Some event chain, people blamed cats for disease, I had them investigated, found they weren't the cause, convinced everyone to leave them alone when they wanted to expel all cats anyways, got a pet cat, and then decided to adopt a ridiculous number of cats in an event.)

Also, are there other variants of the chain if at the start instead of going the learning option you go one of the other options?

You can still die as immortal, just not from old age or disease. Set your guy to always lead troops, especially if his martial skill is low... Chose war focus and challenge everyone you can to a duel... Or get depressed one way or another (you can get it relatively often from theologian focus for instance), and commit suicide.

Well, for now I am fine being immortal, though when I get bored of this guy I might do so. Kind of wish their was some way to reward the person for helping me become immortal, or learn more about their motivations for doing so. For now I just made her my hermetic apprentice and will probably keep her around since she is also immortal. I am surprised that I got this in my first game with the DLC unlocking it (just bought the ones I didn't have before, including reaper's due), with my first character as well.

Also, thanks for the answer, but with the topic title I meant it more in the sense of "I'm immortal, now what?" as I am not really sure if there is anything else you should do when immortal or if it is best to just get back to normal gameplay now that I experienced the event chain.

The only thing being immortal really helps with is to marry your great grandchildren. Also if you are someone's vassal, you can keep flipping between christianity and islam to increase your stats through infinite pilgrimages/hajj.

When you become immortal, your guide does as well, so they've been "rewarded". Unless you killed them.

On a related note, there's an achievement for killing an immortal as an immortal. So you might want to kill them, if you're on ironman.

you're first ever time getting the event chain and you became immortal... I envy you so much lmao. I think it took me 15 times before I even made it past the 2nd stage
Damn you're lucky. In all the years I've been playing this game, I've never actually managed to get the trait, just death. Immortality should help you immensely in solidifying your rule over the realm if you're not a tyrant, so I think for an immortal the only logical conclusion would be a world conquest.

Well, it wasn't ironman, when I encountered it, I successfully went to the last event first try, selected the option to use the potion and became some random child, reloaded and tried the same thing again with the same result, then guessed that maybe it is linked to the specific decision so instead chose to do it myself and was successful.

So technically it was my third try.

An immortal character is useful since you just keep stacking the long rule opinion bonus which will make all your vassals love you unless you rack up some rerious tyranny, so you'd never really need to worry about revolts can can go for an easy world conquest.
If you get bored of your character (or they lose too many body parts) you can always commit suicide, immortals get that option once they turn 100.
