Delay Education for Children
The wiki on conclave education suggests in the stretegy section to delay picking an education focus until age 15 in all children to maximize the trait effects.
I've been doing this for about 5-6 generations.
Seems OK, but I cant remember what is was like before when I immediatly selected a focus when they turned 12.

Any truth to this, or am I just creating problems? Every so often I forget at age 15 (usually because I'm warring) and a child gets a poor education.

Edit: The Adult Education focus past age 12.

The tier of the education trait is calculated (with some randomness) based on the child's education focus, current traits and the childhood trait he/she used to have.

When a child just turns 12, he/she will only have the childhood traits and you don't know exactly which adult traits they will have. By the time a child is 15, he/she could have 3 or 4 adult traits which would give you a much better idea of which education suits him/her.

I'm opposed to that strategy. Focus generally leads to certain education traits. Without a focus, education traits are entirely random. 95% of the time, I'm selecting Thrift focus for every child, which will almost always produce a good diplomat or schemer. If a child is a genius, then it's Duty focus every time. On the rare occasion I want a warrior king (which is usually only during the extreme early game), then it's Struggle focus. If for some crazy reason I need a super theologian, I'll select Faith focus.

That part, the child part I get. I have a similar strategy there.
Its when the child turns 12 that I was questioning.
If as That Guy says it just give me a better understanding of the adult traits to pick one then thats a good thing I suppose and will keep waiting to a late as possible for the adult education part.
I was worried that waiting delays the edu trait or some how lowerss the chance of getting a higher quality edu trait.

I wouldn't stress it that much, Conclave education is much more flexible than vanilla, so just picking an Education Focus that's most compatible with a kid's childhood traits (or that best fits your plans for them), as soon as they become 12, should be enough.

Sure, by delaying the choice, you'll be able to pick an Education Focus better suited to whatever personality traits they developed, but that's hardly going to make a difference.
Selecting guardians with preferred intervention traits is the best micromanagement you can do.

And in case something goes wrong, Way of Life Foci help with traits and stats management, by letting you earn/lose traits, gain permanent modifiers, and even level up your education trait.
