Error on Linux
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'CFileException'

So everytime I try to launch the game I get the error above and I'm not sure what's causing it or how to fix it.

I see it mentioned on the net but haven't been able to find a definitive way of fixing it.

Anyone run into this before and know how to fix it?

Edit:

A bit more info

I'm running Void Linux Kernel 4.18

I'm using the nouveau nvidia drivers with a 970m in my machine.

Can you give us the full error message? CFileExceptions generally occur when the program tries and fails to read or write a file. So the usual suspects would be things like the program trying to go beyond its permissions, a full disk partition, or even a failing disk. Or maybe the desired file is just missing or in an unexpected location.

I'm sure you're aware, too, that Void Linux is not technically supported. That doesn't mean you're doomed, but if you're open to migrating distros you'd have an easier time using Ubuntu, or at least something closely related (like Mint, or better yet, Debian.) Void Linux uses runit rather than systemd (which is used by most mainstream linux distros at this point), so the difference is not a small one.

That's literally the entire error message.

It says that and then aborted afterward.

I recently reinstalled Void but prior to that CKII ran just fine on void. I don't know what the difference is between that install and this one.

Might have to do with not using the proprietary drivers. If so I guess I just won't play CK2, I have no problems launching anything else including windows games using proton.

Like most people running linux I started out with Ubuntu and Linux Mint. If I wanted to be using either of those I would be.

Thanks for your reply.

For anyone curious the issue was a problem with permissions on the .paradoxinteractive/Crusader Kings II directory.

Changing these fixed it.
