I didn't ask for your "speculation" seeing as you haven't done it; how do you know it's been done without cheating? You don't you just wanted to talk smack like most. :)
There's also a post out there where someone did a world conquest in under 10 years.
People have done it (supposedly), but its extrememly difficult and I personally have never done it.
Though nowadays things should be different with the defensive pacts, new CBs, etc..
1. Plunder timer restarts with every new ruler.
2. Farming prestige with failed imprisonments.
3. I've really underestimated the utility of the subjugation CB when considering speed.
Everything else I knew about, and even use some of it when I played as nomads. Though it took me ~200 years because I started as a 2-county khagan and didn't do subjugations or abdications.
I've almost done in a single life-time (In normal I've done it a few times in a single life-time). Though his heir finished the job.
The difficulty largely depends on who you are and what other restrictions you've set for yourself (like trying to do it in a single life-time, or not allowing religion swapping, etc).
The hardest part for me personally though is the boredom. once you've eaten up Christendom with the Pope as your ♥♥♥♥♥, and then holy warred all the smaller easy to eat natons, it just becomes a slog breaking up some of the larger kingdoms.
Not hard, just stuck waiting on truces or assassinations to fire or waiting to get enough prestige to truce break again.
it's much more engaging, IMO, to force your liege to conquer the whole world, while you manipulate and rule from behind the scenes.
Subjected the Byzantine Empire, then spent 30 min chooseing to pillage the holding.
Stupid UI.
