Looking for fun/easy place to start
Hi

I'm a bit of a newbie in the game. I've played many hours whitout understanding a thing and after watching some tutorials on youtube it's ok now. Anyway, I already did ~100years in Ireland in 1066 and unified the country. So I know it's the easiest out there.

I'm looking now for something easy too and fun, if it's exist. I got the old gods so I can start in 769 too if it helps.

I'm not looking for large scale war at the beginning, so please don't suggest me Byzantine empire of that kind of things (as the king at least).

Thanks !

Saxony. Defend the trees, sacrifice some christians. Reform faith. Reconquer Germania.

Or some persian dynasty. Go back to zoroastrianism and defend against the Islamic onslaught.

Or some zoroastrian heresy. Also fun. Or that one hunnic lord in india or that one turkic lord. Are you badass enough to rebuild their realms?

Some minor Islamic sect is also quite fun.

Down south above Somalia there's also an independent Nestorian lord.

If you want something rather easy and fun, I'd recommend Rurik in Russia - quite easy to reform the faith and good location.

Some Norse Lord is also always fun, also rather easy to reform, lots of naval stuff. Can you collect nubile Concubines from all the world?

Finnish lords are also fun to play, reforming is quite doable and whenever something goes wrong you can go full PERKELE!

As a relatively new player myself with only some 200 hrs in, I say start as a count on Sardinia. You start with primo and can build your empire slowly, or go big and wage war with a pope for example, whilst having a low risk on being invaded (will get raided though).

Hope that helps, enjoy!

Thanks.

I suppose these are in 1066, right ?

I will try some to them
King Boleslaw the Bold of Poland is very casual and easy.
I think that's in 1066 start. You control your entire de-jure kingdom and very few people if any have claims on your lands.

Sardinia 1066, yup, you can conquer the 4 other counties without ticking off anybody (they are all independent). Then move on to corsica, become king and from there on whatever your ambition tells you to do.

Thanks. I will try Sardinia first, seems nice

The main thing happening in the west in the early start is Charlemagne and family. Spain is very hard, and pagan German almost impossible until Charlemagne dies. The easiest options are probably Italy or Britain, unless you play as a French vassal. India is very stable too, if you have Rajahs. Everything in between is pretty volatile though. Need a bit of luck early on.

Extremely good start. With efficient holy wars and reasonable health/luck, you can crown yourself Wendish Emperor before Boleslaw dies.

Old Gods only gives you access to 867 start; you need Charlemagne for 769.

I've always enjoyed playing as Haesteinn of Nantes in 867, but you need a bit of luck so West Francia doesn't decide to holy war you before you consolidate your power (or move away).

You're right, I mixed up charlemange and the old gods. Anyway I will buy Charlemagne later so it could be nice to have advice about that too

Easy enough start in 769 is Wessex. Reasonably strong for a four county petty king and free primogeniture.

You want fun? Hard fun? 1066 Novgorod.
You want a easy empire to form, 1066 poland
Or go 769 to scotland/ireland and use ruler designer to make a pagan ruler and form britannia, while reforming your faith by conquering norway.

my favorite start so far is 1066 bavaria. pretty easy because you've got a liege who will protect you from outside threats and a lot of small dudes all around you that you can easily take down. my preferred strategy is going for st gallen as soon as i can get a claim, create duchy of tyrol, create kingdom of bavaria, let the emperor transfer all de jure vassals of bavarian kingdom to me, grow in strength even more until i'm at least half the size of hre (bigger is better), then declare independence (you shouldn't need anyone to join your faction to be able to do this, but the more the merrier, i guess) and take over whatever is left of the hre.

or, if you want to become hre emperor yourself, then you could also just make a faction to demand the crown of the empire. or you could just create the kingdom and manipulate the elective (ai usually doesn't change it) to vote for you as new emperor (should be pretty easy once you have become king of bavaria).

only thing to keep an eye out for is the emperor himself. sometimes he decides to be a ♥♥♥♥ and revoke your titles a few years after starting the game for no appearent reason or some silly stuff like that. in such a case i guess there is not really an option except restarting.

Personally I find the funnest start in the game was my first start, western Iceland, either in 769 or 867. The drawback of this is that, if you start in 867, you need to build up prestige fast, as Harald Fairhair will try to subjugate all of the north within a few years of starting. The drawback of the 769 start is that you will not get boats for 20 years or so--which makes some sense given that Iceland was not settled by the Norse until the 860's.

Now what makes this start fun is that it is very easy. All you have to worry about in the early game is the other half of the island, which can be taken over as soon as you get a tribal army--becuase you will have the pagan subjugation war which will give you the whole island as it is of the same level as your own title. Even if you get stuck under Norway you will be able to raid and take over the northern islands or even Ireland without having to worry about being attacked very much, because you are in a region which is in the middle of nowhere and so not drawn into the politics of the mainland kingdoms. Also, if you start in 769 there is a good chance the ai will reform the religion on its own, which itself is very userful. In 867 this rarely happens, but as you are in the far north your will have a good 200 years before Norway converts (usually) which is enough time to build up a power base, or even to reform the religion yourself. An added bonus is that you have the british isles to conqure through, which are very divided and weak in both starts. This makes it very easy to make your own kingdom, or even Empire, without much effort. My brother was once able to reform the germanic religion and make an empire tier title on his first character from the 769 start. Also if you can take over the british islands you can then invade Scandanavia without much resistence, or the islands in the medeterrian, which normally gives you enough power to take on France or Hispania or even Lombardy/Italy. Even if you want to sit on your ass and do nothing for 400 years, you can easily remain independent and germanic pagan without too much fear of conquest, because of the fact that norway is a small kingdom, and will be the only region with a clam on you--I have never seen the ai make the empire of scandanavia before. So the long viking game is also a valid option.

for me fun and easy is 1066 Iberia. I learned a lot there when I was just beginning to play.
