So the game is free... Should I just by the Dynasty Starter pack?
It is $28 for the dynasty starter pack.... is that worth it? should I include any additional DLC? Help!

Also, what about just getting the DLC pack? It looks like $40 for everything...

is it onsale for 28? because just doing quick math on the package, it seems like you can get all the items for 20 bucks

Pay attention specifically to what you're getting. It sounds like what steam is offering is one of the "personalized packages".

make sure to accept the Free base game first, so it'll remove it from the bundles.

After that, do whatever.

The dynasty pack has the recommended most used dlcs.

But you think 40 is fine for all the mechanical dlcs, then go for it.

Though I still wouldn't recommend using all them at once, and just turn them on slowly as you get a feel for the game.

if you are new, and really want to spend a little money on good DLC..

I'd say just spend 10 bucks and grab OLD GOD's, and way of life.. then start a game in ireland and play tribes as you learn the game.. Tribes are a lot of fun, and then you can work your way into fuedal with castles and such..

with tribes you can raid too, if you get ships, you raise troops and in your land click the little icon in the uper right corner of the troop box to switch um to raiders.. load um on ships and send um off to small lands and loot them for gold! Lots of fun :)

If you really enjoy the game, think about more later, they have sales all the time, and sometimes are 75-80% off, but the 50% are a bit mroe common these days.

Crusader Kings II: Customization Pack
Crusader Kings II: Sons of Abraham
Crusader Kings II: Monks and Mystics
Crusader Kings II: Conclave
Crusader Kings II: The Reaper's Due
Crusader Kings II: The Old Gods
Crusader Kings II: Ruler Designer
Crusader Kings II: Sword of Islam
Crusader Kings II: Legacy of Rome
Crusader Kings II: Way of Life

How are these to start for $48? Should I add the unit packs?

Unit packs are only cosmetic. You don't really need them. Also, you should buy the bundle first and then the rest. Bundles usually have added discounts on top of the current discount.

That's basically all the "good" DLC right there. It's a great place to start the game with.

The unit packs are purely cosmetic, they won't impact your game at all.

I'd suggest to try the base game first to see if it's your cup of tea, then if you want more, the Dynasty Starter Pack is a solid choice, it should be priced around $20 once you own the base game.

By the way, the DLC collection isn't up to date, as it only contains DLCs released until March 2014 (most notably, it's missing major DLCs from Charlemagne onwards); besides, it's mostly a bunch of cosmetics and songs, nice for immersion, but totally optional.

Among cosmetic DLCs, the unit packs are without a doubt the least meaningful, as you'll see those units only when at war, and only when the map is zoomed.

Portraits, on the other hand, are something you'll look at very often during any playthrough, and seeing the same western faces over and over gets boring quickly.

Thanks guys. Also, my DLC isn't downloading and I keep getting an error... has this happened to anyone else?

Sure sounds like it - I already have a majority of the main DLC's but it's still $47 for the random ones I don't have.
