Where can I look at my character's health status?
I get that there are traits that say a character has plus or minus health, but is there a way to see how much I have total, and what I can do to maybe save myself?

Cheat I think is the only way.

Open the console and type

charinfo

Then mouse over the character and the normal information pop-up is extended and includes the health of the character, among other many things.

5 is normal health, and all the bonus/amlus to health are applied to that, I think.

5 is a fairly normal amount of health, but each character's base health varies within a small range (I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think 4ish to 6ish is about right) before traits and other factors are applied.

However, that health number is just that - a number.

I just lost a leader who had 7.5 for health. He'd been stressed and out of stress for several years and was 68 years old. I feared he would not be long in going. But he kept going until ...

I got a message to say he was happy he was in love with his wife and that the stressed malus was gone. Awesome, the great leader will continue stronger and better, right?

No, the very next day he died.

So, don't take too much notice of that health number

damn! I thought it was a way to increase the lifespan. Because, I had a Lord who was riddled with probably every freaking malady in the game (dark magic overdose), and then I healed most of the stuff, and absorbed life force from 2 people, so 6+ additional life force ontop of taking away alot of negative effects. I lived to like 68, when realistically anyone that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up(and he was very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up) would probably die at 40

A healthier person is more likely to live longer, for sure.

But, you gotta love those random dice rolls sometimes, even when they don't roll for you.
