Strange audio glitch? Sound effects fade out after playing for a few minutes?
Hey everyone. So, I've been playing CK2 for years and have never had any major issues with it. For a couple months last year, I didn't play CK2 much at all, as I had grown somewhat bored of it. Apparently, there was an update or something in that time. So when I started playing again recently, I noticed that my SFX started fading out and sometimes becoming totally inaudible after just a few minutes of play. However, the music still plays at normal volume- it's just the sound effects (for example, the sound that is made when selecting a province). I guess the update had something to do with this, as I have never had this happen to me before? It doesn't impact any of my other games, so it's not something with my system. Does anyone know a fix for this? It's really annoying.

Go : Game Options - Audio - Dynamic Ambient Sounds
Has to do with that, most likely.
Change it acccordingly.

ya I noticed that too... I usually play with music disabled anyways but ambient sounds!! sometimes they cut out al together and come and go... I've just grown accustomed to it and barely notice anymore... maybe that's attributed to my overall lack of attention to detail or "squirrel brain" as my daughter affectionately calls it

That's where the audio fades out when you're in a "menu", right?

I actually checked that the other day. It didn't really seem to change anything- even when I wasn't in a "menu" (council, character profile), the audio glitch still occured.

ya even when I'm in main menu playing it seems to come and go intermittently... I just zone it out now

Do you maybe refer to certain sounds that depend on how close you are zoomed in ?
There are sea and terrain sounds you only hear when close enough to that specific spot.
If that's not it, can you elaborate on the sounds you miss ?

Sorry for the late reply, I somehow missed your comment.

Basically, all sound effects- yes, all- fade out or even become inaudible after a few minutes of gameplay, regardless of what I am doing at the moment (for example, the "marching" sound when selecting the military tab, the click that occurs when you select a province, etc.)

Happens to me too. It doesn't even seem consistent for me. The alarm ding when an alert comes up at the top of the screen will stop being audible, but I'll still hear crowd mumbling when I open a character window. Clicking on event buttons will have a barely-audible 'click', yet clicking on a province will make a full-volume click.

It's weird.

Been noticing it as well. It just comes and goes.
