Apart from mods (others will answer about that) there's also the "random world" option when you start a new game. In a random world if you fiddle with the cultures enough you can enable "animal kingdoms."

Also for you, you should always keep supernatural & absurd events enabled for all in the game rules.

Hmm if you dont mind Total Conversion Mods, there are a few.

For Warhammer Fantasy, there is the Warhammer: Geheimnisnacht mod which includes most of the Races of the setting (Elves, Ratmen, Orcs, Vampires, etc...) and has a magic system. Information can be found here: https://ck2.paradoxwikis.com/Warhammer:_Geheimnisnacht

The Elder Kings mod in the steam workshop is also very good as it has THE BIGGEST magic system i have seen in a ck2 mod.

I have seen a few Lord of the Rings mods and minor tweek mods that change vanilla to a low fantasy setting, but i dont remember these ones....

If you enjoy GRRM's A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, then the AGOT mod is the greatest thing since sliced bread. :)

You can download it directly from their official forum[agotcitadel.boards.net].

I like princess of darkness and am playing it right now, but its buggy.

One to watch if it gets an update. Its for 3.1.0 if you try it out casually, but its unstable for longer games. Favourite thing to do is play the youngest generation giovanni, slowly diablerize my way up the clan, and eventually become 3rd gen by a big clan event, though there are some fun goals for most of the clans.

Mythos 2

Check for which version mythos 2 is running on currently.

Crisis of the conderation the older version still works but as for the newer one, mixed results. Very ambitious and worth a casual look even if its buggy.

I love the AGOT (A Game of Thrones) mod. :) It's based on the books, not the show. They just released a new updated version[agotcitadel.boards.net]. Highly recommended!

EDIT: Ooops, I had already posted this and forgot. Embarrassing. My apologies!

Is there any benefit to downloading the AGOT mod from their official forum rather than simply subscribing here on Steam?

Their forum has a submod subforum, which is handy. + installing/uninstalling mods manually is less buggy.

To answer OP:
Warcraft mod (currently playable)
Game of Thrones mod (currently playable)
Warhammer mod (not yet updated)
Elder Kings mod (not yet updated)
Middle Earth mod (sort of playable, but quite buggy, better to wait for update)
Princes of Darkness (not yet updated)
Etc.
