HRE or Francia Empire
I'm emperor of Francia, about to win the HRE. So which one should I keep? Which one is better? Cheers

You keep both anyway (you can hold multiple empire without penality, just as kingdoms), but you can change which one will be your main title, the main effect will be that your empire will have a different colour (white with HRE, purple with Francia). Also, if gavelkind, your heir will inherit your main title so it can be relevant to set it, you can change it at anytime though.

No general malus, but you do get a malus with the vassal-kings of your secondary empire because they desire that emperor-title, so its usually preferable to destroy one and keep just one empire-title.

The Holy Roman Empire usually has princely elective, a succession form that is unique to it, so you if you keep both they will most likely end up with different succession forms which might cause issues with different heirs.

Keeping both also prevents de jure drift, and you usually want to have only one empire with everyone under it.

If you want princely elective (which has a bonus of +20 [!] vassal limit) I'd go with the HRE, otherwise either one will do. The HRE has a very good crown (the Reichskrone), so that might be a consideration as well.

I know i keep both but I will probably destroy one to prevent loses on succession. I am asking if one has any advantages over another

What crown? Is it just the looks or ...?

I can't imagine why anyone would think of keeping the HRE title unless they specifically wanted to play with that princely elective succession nonsense.

The crown adds an extra +4 to diplomacy and extra relations to vassals I believe. Extra prestige as well. I also like the princely elect because of the good boost of vassals you can control. I think as stated its either 15 or 20+

Nah, I've never been one to care about that kind of stuff. :) It gives:

+1 Monthly Prestige
+1 Monthly Piety
+4 Diplomacy
+10 Temple Vassal Opinion

The Diplomacy boost is pretty big in my opinion, and the +10 Temple Vassal opinion can be very useful if you make theocratic electors in the empire. If you're Catholic and have Papal investiture their voting power also doubles. :)

Not 100% sure but I think the Reichskrone actually doesn't need the HRE-title to work, other then the byzantine one, think you just need to be catholic (christian?), feudal and being crowned.

I checked and it seems you are correct. :) It will work as long as you are feudal and either Catholic of Fraticelli. Thanks for the correction! :)

You also need to be crowned for it to be active, i.e. have the trait of being crowned by yourself, the Pope, a bishop, or a priest.

(It does require the HRE to be created to exist, but since this is a case of conquering an already existing HRE that's not an issue here.)

Sorry for noobish questions but how do I create this crown? Do I only need ti be crowned? By pope? Because I alway choose to be crowned by pope. Does that mean I already have it?
galadon3 Jun 15, 2019 @ 6:47am
Afaik its created for the character who creates the HRE, or in starts where it already exists I guess whoever is actual emperor has it. After that, well I guess normal inheritance / looting rules apply.

What @galadon3 said. Since the HRE already exists in your game somebody should have it. You can use the Character Finder and just search for "Reichskrone" and you will see who has it. :)
