In example, we can't just declare war to anybody, there are rules we must comply. In the same way, there are rules (with different laws) on who inherits a char's lands when he dies, we players can't just choose who receive each county, duchy, kingdom, etc. There are rules and consequences for revoking and granting titles. We also can't make our char die or retire, but there's a way to make him suicide.
Same way, we can't just choose which char we're gonna play. So, if we change the game's rules, we're unbalancing it somehow.
Then, of course, when it's singleplay, we're not affecting other players. And the game has both command line tool and modding API to allow us to make such changes. In my understanding, using them isn't hacking, but is cheating.
Sometimes it's a lot of fun to change the game rules to create new fun ways of playing. In example, I'm playing AGOT and using a mod so I impregnate all kings' wifes.
Especially since sadly nobody really got what I meant in the OP.
I didn't intend any cheat or break of rules...
Just wished for a game feature. Whenever your character dies, maybe let the game do an autosave and/or open up a window offering you to chose which one of your dead character's offsprings you want to continue playing with...
