If that's the case, there is no point to mention it in EULA, is it? They can just let me tick a box in options to disable it or mandate it when you send a crash report.
No, this is new trend started by Microsoft, which is now sharing collected telemetry with third parties. Even if intentions are good, legal wording in EULA certainly is not. So I could not accept EULA.
Which is a pity, because I love this game. But I won't trade my freedom for it.
They collected quite some information before already.
I agree that Paradox went pretty beserk with retroactively changing terms with CK2 ever since its release and it's annoying , but it's probably just the new reality of the consumers world, sadly.
I suppose most other mainstream games do this already.
Well..., for me it's just good to know that the EULA isn't worth a penny in my country, but software and online rights are pretty undeveloped and endangered regarding customer rights.
Anyway... If you want to read the old thread on this topic on the offical forum with offical responses, then see this: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/section-5-of-the-new-eula-of-2-6.964673/ (to only see official responses look top right and click on "Show only Dev responses" below the blue "Sort" button).

(Edit: it was very late at night and i was slightly drunk, thus my lament...)
Big Brother is around already. All dystopias are becoming true.
Slowly, but steadily.
Consumerism and the 'free market' make it possible.
I'm not frightened or angry anymore, just cynical and drunk.
I selfdiagnose a little late autumn depression.
Thanks for bringing up that topic again...more alcolhol...
edit:
welp, that was alittle like a typical pavlovs dogs reaction by me.
I'm conditioned. *eeek*
I blame the beer.
but uses proprietary software.
k
Unless he is on Linux....what he said is hilarious to begin with.
I am on Linux, yes. I do use proprietary software, yes. But where I draw the bounds is my choice, not someone else's.
How much is enough though?
It is not about circumventing something you see (besides, there is no fully offline with Steam - it requires connection once every 2 months or so). It is about not agreeing to someone collecting my information and about not agreeing to extortion, which is what this business of changing EULA terms midway frankly is.
Sure man. But its still hypocritical to publically cry for freedom at one peice of software collecting your data and be okay with another peice of software collecting your data.
Your not using Mesa drivers are you? Most linux distros have propriitary software (Steam would be one example of proprietary software that collects a ton of data). Most software EULA's state they will use data collected to better their product. If you read CK2's EULA and the articles on the Paradox website, it states the same as well.
It is your choice surely, just don't strike a pose publically. Just get your refund.
it's the baby boomers.
