Help with the Sunni Caliphate

In my current game I finally stripped the current Abbasid caliph of all his landed titles in order to name myself Caliph...Now the religion isnt having any religious head , yet I dont get the option to create the caliphate..What I am doing wrong?

you need to have like a claim on the Caliphate title im pretty sure, or like inherit it, its been a while since i was a Muslim country and even this game so maybe im outdated by like a few year, but i think you also need those traits that only thhe children of Muhammad have

You cant inherit it since its a titular title..You need to create it...
I was missing 1k piety , thats why I couldnt create it..Thank for the help though

if the head no longer exists (asin its blank in the religion tab) then you need to control 3/5 holy sites, have 1000 piety (or mirza/sayyid trait) and then create the title for yourself.

simply click on the shield icon in the bottom right of the missing religion head portrait and this will bring up the caliphate title, and with luck a "create" button lit up along its top.

For Shia, Sunni, Ibadi, Karijite, or Hurufi:
1000 Piety OR Sayyid trait (male-line relative of Mohammed) OR Mirza trait (son of a Sayyid mother)
(1000 Piety AND Sayyid trait) OR (control Mecca AND control Medina) OR (control Baghdad AND control Damascus AND control Jerusalem).

was pretty close from memory.

the control of the holy sites was my mistake (as its a bunch of OR statements) however getting to the create title screen and mousing over the create button would list the requirement tree for him anyhow.
