Dealing with baronies
Ok this has always been a problem for me but ever since the newest DLC its been increased a thousand fold. Once you reach a decent size you wind up with a considerable amount of Baronies beneath you normally a good thing, until they start dying nonstop without ever having kids forcing it into my current demesne.

It really cuts away from the game to have to go back to my titles every 5 seconds to find some barony and hit the create vassal button. If I ever put the game on the fastest setting thats literally all im doing they die off so constantly worse still if some disease hits, even something minor like measles It ties up my gameplay for a LONG time.

Is there a faster way of doing this or someway to encourage these useless lumps to pop out at least 1 kid before they croak for no reason at the age of 40?

If you are playing at the fastest speed and are not overwhelmed with things to do already, it means you are neglecting a lot of stuff.

I was about to say I've never had this be a bother for me since I bought the game at release (2012) but then I realized... I don't own Reaper's Due so, hmm, that sucks dude.

Been playing this for over a decade it takes a lot to overwhelm me, The baronies don't even 'overwhelm' me, they annoy me, huge difference.

"For over a decade."

I wasn't aware we were in the 2020s already....

CK2 launched in 2012, and CK1 is no comparison at all

It was never bad enough for me to bother complaining until Reapers Due. Then it just got downright stupid, Especially if you like high centralization.

That's nice but please tell me where you got your time machine from since you're in the 2020s it seems.

I never play with baron vassals directly under me. If I can help it, I never have barons in my realms at all. I prefer to directly control all the castles in my home duchy plus surrounding counties until I reach the demense size I want. After that, I will make vassal counts until I am able to create a kingdom. Once I have a kingdom, I will usually stop making count vassals and start making duke vassals only. Before I make someone a vassal I usually try to get them married a bit in advance so they can start making heirs.

This way your vassals manage all those extra castles instead of you having to worry about barons and all that other micromanagement. I haven't had a title revert to me due to vassal deaths since Reaper's Due came out, using this method. *knock on wood*

Thats a thought, Only reason I dont like it is because non-county castles don't give as much levee's or taxes as their "county-part" lol so sorry for that. And the extra troops are welcome right now since viceroys, even with 100 opinion, like to form factions for indepenedance. And if Persia and Africa think they're getting away from me they're dead wrong

Problem with that is inheritance can get really, really messy. Add to the fact that I own Brittany, France, Africa, Persia, Perm, And Lithuania (Yes I know I'm flung all over the place with no rhyme or reason) I dont even have enough family to meet my need for counts let alone worry about making them barons. Plus my dynasty member's really dont fare any better when they become barons. They refuse to have kids and die from a stiff breeze which still leaves me replacing them :UnhappyMask:

My family is also been a tad pruned as the Plague has appeared twice in my game, the second time of which started in my capital

barony holdings give exactly the same troops and tax as county holding castles.

holding counties outside of the dejure of your capitals duchy has no bonus, holding baronies inside the duchy DO have levy bonuses, meaning more troops.

it sounds like you are holding far too many counties outside of your own duchy, if gaining baronies is an issue. pawn off all your other counties to vassals and build castles in your primary duchy. you will be far better off.

That first part is just not true. By virtue of having baronies beneath it a county holding will always have more taxes and and levies.

if you own 3 counties with 3 barons each thats 9 holdings to pull troops and taxes from Vs. 3 holdings if you just own 1 county and 2 of the baronies within it. Same demesne size of 3, huge difference in resources. Sure they may be vassalized, but its harder to get barons to hate you than to like you so unless they're catholic priests ur virtually always getting large amounts of risk free levies and taxes from them.

And I dont own many if any outside my own duchies. What I can say is between Breizh and Flanders (my primary Duchies) Thats something like 50 baronies between them, but that along with the long coastline is what makes those duchies so powerful.

Whatever you see as the benefits of building wide, you're spend less time distributing baronies if you built tall instead. It seems to be the most common way of handling rulers' demense among people who like to optimize such things.
