How to play as russia

Hey, i have a question about the nations that have RUS culture, like nations that are russian you can play as. i want to know what is recommended as one of these russian nations and whats the stradegy for the person-country. if your confused ill try to point it out.

If you're about tribal times, Ilmenian, Severian or Volhynian will turn into Russian after reforming pagan religion.

Honestly, no big difference with any other tribal play. You can start as Kiev, since its already 1 of 5 Slavic holy sites, and have more or less easy access for 2 more. So, you can reform religion in 1-2 generations.

Its for 769 start, not sure about futher dates because i always start on 769 and havent played as Pagan on early DLCs...

867 or the Old Gods bookmark, Könugardr (Kiev) or Holmgardr (Novgorod) are the strongest pagan starts in Russia. You can convert to Russian right quick and pick any religion you want. For Orthodox starts, it doesn't matter that much since everyone is your dynasty and just dying can give you more land...

Any east slavic culture can become russian when converted to reformed faith. It can be any.

im pretty sure russian has come up without reformed religion but it was a long time ago so i could be wrong.

1 is russian culture the other is the empire of russia for culture it shows up randomly for the empire you gotta own a lot of land

Fast way to reformation, marry her as a duke in Kingdom of Rus, fabricate on another holy site and conquer Birlad or subjugate who ever rules it.

The culture can switch to Russian just by the owner of a Russian county NOT being of the 3 main cultures that otherwise switch themselves through reformation. For instance, my last Rus game didn't go well and I never reformed, but the 3 counties decided jure to Rus taken by nomads became Russian
