It'll work fine, though, the game doesn't consider them related unless they're half-siblings. It probably should for historical accuracy, but... eh.
Adopting a character is a completely different issue, and not possible if I recall correctly.
I thought they would included a step siblings title in a dynasty game but oh well
Thank for answering!
If you married into a family, you were considered part of it, which is why Hamlet calls Claudius's marriage to his father's wife incestuous. Because she was his sister by law and would remain so until removed by official divorce. (it was also possible for a step-sibling to carry on the new family dynasty if they were officially named part of it via adoption by their new father or some of sufficient family authority to make that claim, though their claims tended to be weaker than those with blood claims, though they could sometimes gender laws depending have a higher claim than a blood relative that was female or via a female line).
This was eventually redefined as only being incestous if they shared close common blood, though the exact definition of how close varied from time and place.
they could implement adoption as a mechanic as a sort of Reverse Born in the Purple.
They become part of the dynasty but their claims will be forever weaker than a blooded member of the dynasty (they will always be under any other eligible heir of the current tier of succession) and a -1 diplomacy and -10 to all dynasty for being not of the ruling blood, though their children will as they're born into the dynasty.
It's also possible to retro-actively declare a legitimate child a bastard by divorcing their parent and disinheirting them. Basically converting them into a Legitimized Bastard (Called Delegitimized Bastard) except that they only inheirt if there are no other valid heirs but will carry on the family dynasty.
That would be like the 'Born in the purple' mechanic where the disinherited child from the divorced parent is still part of the dynasty but not recognize as the true dynasty blood
But then does that mean the delegitimized child decided to have children are still part of the dynasty or are they converted to their parent dynasty?
