Is Monks and Mystics Islam too Powerful??
I am near the year 1200 in a 769 start, playing as a Breton. The Holy Roman Empire was founded in my game by the AI, and ended up going Muslim. All of the middle east, africa, and the Byzantines went Muslim. Most of my court has sympathy for islam, and many turn heretical and have to be shown the light...either through imprisonment and re-education or purifying flames.

All of the steppe religions are gone, replaced by Islam. The slavic faiths, the germanic faiths, all of them are gone...only islam.

Basically, The british isles and my lands are christian, the recently re-claimed italian peninsula is being reconverted to christianity for now (I suspect Islam will rear up there again) and India has held on to Hinduism, everywhere else Allah reigns supreme.

Noticing this, I have begun expanding as best I can against the overwhelming numbers and aiming to rekindle the faith, as any true Crusader King would. However, it leaves me wondering...

...Is the new Islamic Brotherhood and its agressive attempts to spread Islam too powerful/effective?

Is this mass Muslim world simply a result of game happenings in my play through (ie the Karling Holy Roman Empire going Muslim, empowering them greatly) or is a huge Muslim influx the norm with M&M?

If it is the Norm, is there a reliable way to counter this? I mean weaken them world wide, not just drive them from your own lands.

Should the Germanic tribes be more resistant to such conversion? I find it hard to believe that all of Scandanavia would so willingly give up the old gods...

What have your experiences with Islam been in Monks and Mystics?

For me, it has never been easier to curbstomp Islam, than in my last three playthroughs, so my guess would be that the RNG turned it's head towards Mekka in your playthrough :-)

In my game it is the year 1050 from a 867 start and the islamic nations have an advantage, but not by much. And I think the only reason that's so is because I'm the king of Oman (custom kingdom of Oman, Saana, and Socotra) and the arabian emperor is taxing me 500 gold per year.

The world map has the Arabian empire controlling the kingdoms of Arabia, Jerusalem, Syria, Mesopotamia, Anatolia, Africa, Nubia, Abyssinia, and parts of Persia. The rest of the African continent is controlled by the Shia caliphate. The Umayyads control de jure Hispania. The Saffarids control part of Persia and Khiva. The Seljuks control Afghanistan, Baluchistan, and parts of Persia and Khiva.

The catholic HRE controls Germany, Lotharingia, Burgundy, and Italy. Aquitaine sometimes joins up with France, but splits off just as often (both catholic). Britannia is all catholic, but still hasn't been united yet.

The orthodox ERE controls most of what it started out with and parts of Persia, minus Anatolia. The orthodox Carpathian empire controls its dejure territory, expanding into Bavaria and Moravia, along with parts of Cumania. Rus has been formed and is orthodox but it's still tribal.

The indian religions still control india, but the largest empire there also controls part of Persia. (Persia is split up between practically everyone.) Khotan is still buddhist, and expanding into Mongolia and the rest of the eastern steppes. Everyone else is some flavor of pagan tribals or nomads.

Do you have secret religious cults enabled?
They are way too powerful atm so wait for the next patch and disable them until then...

In my games, the nomads almost always eventually turn to Islam. Having played as them, the wandering physician event that pops up is almost always a Sunni when it triggers for me. Occasionally, I get an orthodox physician.

That said, I feel that you're just dealing with RNGsus and an Islamic secret society has been having 'lucky rolls'.

Although the A.I. seems unable to do it... the Dharmic Religions combined with M&M are powerful and allow for some truly transcendent rulers. Monastic order + Bhuddism = teaching virtues to heirs and donating to charity to get more devotion.
