Demon Spawn
So I just had a female child which turned out to be a demon spawn. The little bastard (not literally) started killing all her brothers and sisters, including my to-be Genius heir, and she was the last one alive, so she inhereted.
Fine, whatever, I'll play as her, maybe it's interesting, she has martial up the gazoo... Oh wait she's dead at 36. Thanks a billion Demon Spawn, I really loved your contribution to our dinasty.

Why did she die at 36?

I can't even remember, severe stress or some stupid reason. Made me wanna quit that game (as Ireland, already had conquered most of Scotland and north England).

Did she not manage to have kids of her own? If not, you can just join evil cult, and since she is a demon spawn she will immediately become lvl 4, and she can use the ability to impregnate herself with another demon spawn child to continue the line, which is very useful if you dont have any other offspring.

Do be aware that the resulting child is of the mother's dynasty and will have no father.

No, that's the other funny thing, I don't have the cults and secret societies DLC, however the game kept prompting me if I wanted to secretly adopt the Germanic faith. After much bugging me, I accepted, and then after a couple more generation, the grand master decided it was time to "embrace the true faith". Since I didn't have the DLC of the Old Gods, I was not allowed to play as a pagan. Game over.

Had to kill the CK2 process to stop it from saving, since it was ironman. Reloaded and quit the faith right away. But then, half of my subjects had adopted the Germanic faith which resulted in a huge civil war to regain my titles.

CK2 just trolled me...

So she killed off one line. That's a tough hit, yes. But hardly game ending.
You control Ireland and much of Scotland. You should have several royal lines by now. Unless you are still in the first generation, in that case - well ... ♥♥♥♥.

Your inability to check which DLC you had trolled you. So you trolled yourself.

No because I don't own neither of those DLCs. There shouldn't be an option to join a secret society at all and why would you allow me to join a germanic faith, when one of the decisions (make the religion official) would end up being a game over?

I don't even own the Old Gods or the secret societies DLC, it seems some of the decisions and events have seeped into the vanilla client...

It is a good idea to keep up with the most important changes that come with new patches if you don't want any nasty surprises. Lots of players also recommend you turn off Secret Religious Societies in the game rules until Paradox balances them.

I don't really see a note which says people without the newest DLC will also be able to join a secret society. Also, it was weird how every ruler of the land had the same artifact, the Bone of Saint Something, everyone had the same damn bone. Just how many bones this guy had? Maybe his miracle was to have a body with double the bones...

That artifact is given for lvl 3 in benedictine society and from event, and often people inherited from some one who did the same or got to lvl 3 or had the event.

Well...most religious relics aren't real. You could build a freaking ship out of all the pieces of the true cross people have found.
☭Woodsman☭ Jun 16, 2017 @ 12:43am
without the DLC, the only secret societies you can join are the secret religions, why they would let you join them for religions that are DLC locked is probably just laziness on their part.

Or trolling and puching to buy those DLCs. Like "hey, we make sales every few months, buy 'em already!" Btw, its true you can disable thing you dont like via Game Rules or even downgrade game version via Steam-Library-CK2-Settings-Beta. So you can play version where societies not even exists.
