How do you get rid of Great Pox?
My immortal ruler got it and it's annoying. Does experimental/traditional treatment remove it eventually?

Death gets rid of it. It's a pretty slim chance to get it cured any other way.

Well, I reached immortality not to just die.

The experimental/dangerous treatments can do it. Great Pox in this game is a bit more annoying than it used to be... In that it shows up more often. I get virgin characters that contract it as if it were the flu.

769 count of Ce. Unmarried, young, no children. Goes through the sympton events, (malaise, rash, whatever) then BAM! You have Great Pox! Deal with it!

another explanation are the devilworshippers-they can contract you with great pox,im preety sure
when i was leader of this ugly club i tryed to kill the emperor of byzanz with my devilpower-it did not work , he 'only' got great pox
Way of Life Theology focus, tends to be rather common.

That is an explanation, yet it seemed to become more common after Reaper's Due.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but since this is the top hit on google for Curing Great Pox, I thought I'd add that I was just cured by going on a pilgrimage to Santiago as a Christian. Not sure what the "chances" are, but it worked.

Can also go Theologian focus, every time you get the "Go into seclusion" event you can be healed. Or you can join the Devil Worshippers and have it removed that way.

Good doctor, or as Kronk said Devil Worshippers can remove it.

Death or if you have reaper's due you can have your court physician cure usually in my cases what dose it the best is to have him like you or he will try to mess it up if he hates and pick “as long as you know what your doing” as any other choice ether higher change but he will cut something off or is a hit or miss

Does anyone know how contracting Great Pox works? I had a character who slept around a lot, but none of his partners had Great Pox, but then he got it. Most of his partners were 20 or younger and unmarried, although a lot of them had "lustful". As far as I know, there's no such thing as asymptomatic Great Pox that doesn't show up on a character screen.

Was getting Great Pox random, or caused by his behavior?

(On a somewhat related note, why was I only getting the option to denounce or acknowledge my bastards when they were born, but not to legitimize them? I couldn't legitimize them by right clicking them either, even if they are in my court and I am guardian. I was a Muslim emperor in India. Do they have to be a certain age to be legitimized? Or does it work differently depending on which DLCs you have? I only have four DLCs.)

I'm guessing that curing Great Pox with your own Physician's skill is a miniscule chance of success unless Learning is up in the 20+ range, or is there some really high Learning skill threshold where it even becomes possible?

Beginning wth 15 Learning a better outcome becomes more likely.
Below that less likely.
For amazing outcome, which appears required for great_pox you appear to need
either at least 18 Learning or brave and hoping for 20% chance of a drastic treament.
Apparently mystic treament with amazing outcome works. if only the side effects wouldn't be potentially so severe..

Hence why likley above mentioned use of pilgrimage or theology focus seems preferable.

See Treatment Outcome for what a physician needs
to increase the chance for a good result :

If you want to cheat, trigger the event RIP.11022
in the console (event 'eventID' 'charID').
