The DLC combine well with Old gods
Prestige comes more often and some societies can improve lifespan..
Note: I play with satanism disabled.
That said, the other features in it are really nice, tend to work well enough, and those german girls in the bundled portrait pack look damn nice. So it's kinda worth the pricetag if you're willing to forget the hype around societies for a while and look at the other features.
Depends on what else you already have.
Not in particular, don't think so.
The only DLC pack I currently have is the Old Gods. Maybe Way of Life would be a welcome addition with these two?
Honestly, before looking at Monks and Mystics, I would consider Legacy of Rome for the retinues, which really do add a lot more flexibility to how you approach wars; Way of Life, for more to do on the individual level; and Charlemagne for an earlier start date and viceroyalties, which allow for more stability on the empire scale once you actually get them. All of these dlcs are great additions that benefit you no matter who you play as or what other dlcs you use.
JERubius' recommendation above is pretty good, I'd only maybe add Reaper's Due to the list.
Also, I firmly believe mods will eventually make Monks and Mystics stand alongside those recommendations of mine if you are into the mod scene, but that could be a good long while. Mods like Geheimnisnacht, AGoT, and Elder Kings will all benefit immensely from the society and inventory mechanics, while mods like CK2+ will probably eventually add more societies or improve existing ones. But that will probably be months before the first steps for that start appearing, and maybe even a year before such features get fully realized.
Really? Why? .... your missing something
I agree with lot of players here, the DLC feels unfinished.
