Tips for expanding despite high threat?
So I have been playing for a while and am not new to CK II at all. I have played as the ERE before, but have not expanded this far like I did in the past. Monks and Mystics really helps with stuff to do during the downtime, but I am already in the year 1315 and I still have not been able to take the rest of western Europe thanks to these stupid defensive pacts. I will upload a screen shot of how large I currently am now, but I want some tips on how to reclaim the old Roman territories despite this high threat. I am in theory large enough that I can raise 170K soldiers and just force my way in, but that would be disaterous.

as this level, why bother about defenseive pact? justdo blitzkrieg to win
Or do non aggression pact to prevent power ruler to go in a defensive pact against you

Declare as many wars as possible once defensive pacts have been dissolved once, then crush crush crush. Just ignore them. You don't need to conquer all of those you are at war with, just the one you declared war on.

How do you declare war on multiple targets? I am using imperial reconquest and the moment I decalre war, I cannot declare anything else.

My most recent game was the first time I got my income above 200 gp per month. I built up a treasury in the neighborhood of 65k. I didn't really try, but I bet I could have expanded some at that point against a significant defensive pact. The ability to hire and sustain a large number of mercenaries would have gone a long way. But it would have been costly.

1) declare war on target A
2) declare war on target B
3) repeat it
4) then activate your levies

Yaldabaoth means that as soon as the defensive pact dissolves (when you are below 5 threat), then declare multiple wars and win them (bringing you back to 100 threat).

You can always try assassinating the ruler of the realm you're targeting. When the previous ruler dies, you have a small window of time where the new ruler is not part of the defensive pact.

Thank you all for the advice.

Indeed, I have enough money to hire over 30K mercenaries and use them to beseige holdings, but the attrition is a killer.
