I think it's.... Basically like playing with gated cheatcodes. It gives you a set of incredibly powerful abilities that you can seriously abuse (Mostly if you're a minority/pagan religion to get around the limited diplomatic options, Abductions are incredibly powerful, Tainted Touch can save your bacon).
But in fairness, if you don't abuse those abilities it's actually an interesting trade-off (and I'd say that for catholics the benefits are probably not quite as powerful). It's gonna ruin the ♥♥♥♥ out of your character if you actually use your powers, but as stated, those powers are quite useful.
Anyway, it's fun, but easily abused to fun-ruining degrees.
But the devil worshippers are insanely powerfull. People usually get mad at me for telling people not to play as them but in my humble opinion they make your game far shorter because it makes the game really easy.
Hermetic is really powerful, I find it best for grooming heirs and keeping a business focus.
But I usually join one of the more 'boreing' relgious orders. Set my focus on Theology for abit. Stabilizes my realm, and the vast majority of my vassals love me, so I can change laws pretty easy without breaking the bank.
Lucifers order seems to get weaker though once you start becoming a large kingdom since you get so many negative traits you'll have all your vassals hating you.
You can also invite rich courtiers to your court, abduct them, then banish them, taking all their money.
Basically you find someone (old people work best, as they tend to have more money) with a load of dosh and no titles, invite them to your court, abduct them, and banish. Theres no penalty too!
This is a variation of an older way to steal money from courtiers. You would marry an old courtier to one of your children, then murder them to take their money. Rinse and repeat.
I died when he was 14 he meh stats, like nothing about 9 but nothing below 5 either. But when he hit 16 instant leader of santinists, and he got so many perks out of no where. When he died his lowest stat was diplo at 16 was 20 but he had so many sins I got rid of one I had him go theology so he could go into secelusion and lose one they came back a week, or month later lol. But in the end he had 51 martial. I had more power with out using the tribal event troops then any 2 rulers combined in the UK islands, was amazing I took the ireland crown, all of wales and part of scotland before he died. Even absorbed a herctic form of catholic and converted all of ireland to it, so I coudl holy war people, and have all their pals join in still beat them lol.
That is how santinsts are trully OP screw the abduction get the son of a demon as your heir and watch bad ass unfold at 16 lol.
