Lustful vs Chaste
I watch some YouTubers LPs and for some reason a lot of people like to marry someone with the lustful trait. I know that it increases fertility, but it almost guarenties that they will fall to a seducer. Chaste on the other hand is practically bullet proof against seduction attempts. Better yet, take one with homosexual trait and it guarentees that all the kids are yours. I have never had an issue with not having 4 or 5 children with a spouse with either the lustful or homosexual trait.

Just some thoughts. I'm going to take a cold shower now.

really doesn't matter whether or not they're actually yours or not. As long as they have that red droplet they're good. Chaste/Lustful to me really comes down to your inheritence laws and culture. Having a low fertility wife with primogineture you can risk outright losing the game if she decides not to have kids and can make your life regency hell if she decides not to till she's in her late 30s.

Chaste homosexuals can fall into the negative % fertility range. If you are playing ironman you'll never know it, and by the time you realize you are not going to have kids with that spouse, it can either be too late or late enough to hurt you. If you are regularly marrying chaste homosexuals and getting 4 to 5 kinds you are either getting very lucky with their base fertility stat or there are mods in play. According to the devs, a couple with average fertility should produce around 2 children in their lifetime, you shouldn't be more than doubling that with -30% fertility on one of them.

And at any rate, as stated above, it really doesn't matter if the child is actually yours or not. It's not like the real father can come along one day and say 'Muahaha! The child was mine all along! Give me your titles!'

I once had the celibat trait and my wife was lustful. Suddenly she became pregnant, just like the blessed virgin. To my surprise the child was black, despite us both being white frenchmen. I was asking my west african court caplan about advice, but he assure me that this is how it works.
God sure has strange ways, but who am I to question him?

The child was a genius by the way.

Your royal line truely is blessed by the Lord!

Usually I get a dwarf hunchback from those affairs.

Its kind of a Role Playing Thing for me. Just annoys me when the Duke next store is sowing his seed on my fertile ground. Plus he is spreading venereal disease. Yeck!

I can certainly see why it bothers you from a role playing perspective. However, making a thread that advocates chaste homosexuals as a solution is sort of like trying to convince someone Russian Roullete is safe because you haven't killed yourself yet. It's not the best advice. >_>

If it really bothers you that much, you should just turn AI Seduction off in the game rules.

I probably misspoke. I didn't mean to say have both chaste and homosexual. What I meant was to have chaste or homosexual. Either trait by themselves rules out the chance of the spouse having an affair or at least one that could lead to a pregnancy. Actually I hope that my homosexual wife will have an affair and she will bring her lover back for a threesome. Sadly that hasn't happened. :-(

Sadly, in this game real bloodlines count for nothing and as long as you have an heir, it doesn't matter much who fathered it.

Occassionally it does. I'm pretty sure there is a blackmail event for secret bastards. I don't know if it can effect players, but I've had my spymaster report to me about proof of an affair and some guy being the result of it a couple times before. Exposing them gives them the bastard trait and changes who the father is.

Normally for me I only go with a lustful wife if my ruler has some bad stats that decrease his fertility so that I am almost gaurenteed a heir (even if technically he isn't mine).

Since I remember one time my heir (didn't know at the time until I became him) was a homosexual and a celibate... so I pretty much thought this game was screwed but then I managed to turn it around and marry a lusty lady who gave me a son and few daughters, but maybe I got lucky, but the son looks similar to his father so I don't think it was a spawn from an affair my wife had, but I guess we will never know.

I try to make sure I have at least one NPC seducer in my court to make sure that my dynasty has enough offspring, and that I can marry off my kids for claims/alliances/stats without worrying about fertility. I've had cases where both the wife and husband are homosexual and kids popped out. Makes you wonder doesn't it? ;-)

I noticed that myself, that homosexual doesn't seem to effect you that much since what is it anyways like -25% or something.

The one that really hurts is when your person is celibate, the thing that screwed me over is how my son became that was he was origianlly my second in line heir, so I sent him to the viking mercanry thing and that turned him celibate. But then my current heir died to an illness so then I was stuck with the guy I sent to the mercanary and didn't know he was celibate at the time till I took over as him.

But I guess I got lucky and found a lusty woman to have my heir marry and then managed to get a son and a few daughters and so my game didn't end there from having no heirs. I think when this happened I may or may not have been reformed and I think if I was reformed I had primo so I needed a son lol.

Keep in mind that you don't have to have a son of yours as your heir. The third grade scottish cousin works too.
