Create your own , by being a member of the Hermetic Society
Receive some , by ranking up in a monastic order
Invite a weaponsmith at your court and buy some weapons/armours from him , you can also get jewels and crowns this way from another character
Steal them from other characters by raiding
Steal them from monasteries , if you are a member of the monastic orders ( Keep in mind , that you can get killed..I actually got stabbed by a monk trying to steal one )
Idk is there are other ways , thats what I found so far..
For the weaponsmith , you get an event which says an renowned weaponsmith is passing through your lands and you can invite him at your court..You will get an option to choose what kind of items you want and the quality of it..The cheapest one seems to be 75 gold and the most expensive one 400..They give martial , prestige and personal combat skill
For the monastery , you get an event where another member of the society invites you to show an holy relic..You wil get an option to steal it
It can add up though, and having 3-4 finger bones in your inventory will pay dividends. especially once you start stacking all the magnus opus books, crown jewels, and black smith sword. you get some pretty crazy stat boosts.
I always get the most expensive one anyway, and just let my realm go to crap for a year or 2, as once you have it you don't need to worry about it ever again on any of your heirs. so its a 1 off turmoil.
The crown jewels however, they kinda wreck you... the best one is like 2500-3k gold for feudal... so merchants are probably like 5k or something stupid. but its a multi-peice set for that craft so you get a crown + ceremonal sceptar thing that can be equiped at the same time as your blacksmith sword. so you can wear 3 items at once + all the passive junk.
I also inherited the Emeral tablet (+2 learning & +5.0% technology spread rate) & the Magnus Opus on Universal Panacea from my father (previous ruler) which gives +2 learning & 0.5 personal health - pretty cool.
I also have the mace & lance which I also inherited gives 0.25 +1 martial each!
my previous ruler was leader of the Hermetic Society for years and the current one has climbed to 5th position in 7 years!
The Hermetic Society Magnum Opus' scale based on the learning of the character when you create them
There are 4 ranks to them, Learning 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, and 25+
At 25+ the +2 learning 0.5 health panacea gives +3 learning +1 health.
So when doing the hermetic society, always ensure your realer has 25 or higher before using your single use mangum opus. Just a tip ;)
I'm fairly sure the higher ranked one would replace a lower ranked one... however if they are unique... then having 4 different ranked magnum opus of each of the 5-6 types would be pretty damn nuts... May need to check this >.>
The event codes can all be found @\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings II\events\mnm_SOMETHING <--- where something is a society name, etc
For example "Event MNM.9000" starts the find rare artifact line, for stuff like...
religion_group = christian
has_artifact = spear_of_destiny
has_artifact = bones_of_st_peter
has_artifact = staff_of_moses
has_artifact = davids_harp
religion = norse_pagan
religion = norse_pagan_reformed
has_artifact = mjolnir
has_artifact = andvaranaut
Because after all.... It's over 9000!!!... I saw what you did there paradox ;)
