Got smallpox, got better...
.. then got smallpox again and died.

Bug or working as intended?

That would be the norm with Reaper's Due especially depends on how high the illness level is turned up in game settings. You could beat cancer and die from some minor illness a week later or like you said beat smallpox then die from smallpox a month down the line. Build Hospitals, shut the gates, and above all make sure you have a Godly physician to cure all your diseases because they will continue to come and usually at the most inopportune times. :mortis::gasmask:

What I was asking, really, if it was a bug to get the same illness twice since up until now once I've survived it, I never got it again. I assumed it was coded to operate like reality where immunity is this thing humans have.

You might have gotten slightly bugged, because disease immunity is a real thing in this game. You shouldn't have gotten it again.
If smallpox was in your realm still or someone in your court was infected then sure you could catch it again as far as I've experienced anyways.

Now I think of it, he was "cured" by his physician, had his hand cut off. I wonder if immunity doesn't flag if you survive that way.

Yeah I think you have yo survive on your own for your immune systems to get accustomed to the disease, but I don't know for sure.

There is no such thing as immunity in this game. You lucked out the first time... But the second time it got you

I suppose you're right. That's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid as mechanics go though.

Indeed it is. immunity to diseases even if not to all diseases but maybe minor ones should have been implemented along with Reaper's Due. I kind of understand why it isn't due to the initial reason for the dlc in the first place being late game and peace time filler but it still would have been nice and more historically accurate.

Immunity definitely exists in the game files - whether it always works correctly is another matter. It looks like it should at first glance.

I'm pretty sure there is immunity to diseases in charinfo code. however if your wife for example gets a disease then you pretty well get it too, my question to the op was did he have seduction focus and a bunch of sick lovers, cause yeah the game likes to treat STI as a thing.

The undying trait is tied to getting 3 different infections and gaining immunity to them via getting better. It's just not displayed in the standard character sheet (it probably should be a minor trait for sanity purpose honestly)

Did you have a small pox ridden wife/lover OP?

Not that I recall. Not sure, honestly.

Immunity IS in the game though. You get the nickname 'the Undying' by fulfilling these requirements. Age at least 60, ruled at least 30 years. _Is immune to at least two epidemic diseases_. Scarred . Has at least one of One-eyed , One-handed , One-legged , Mangled , Blinded , Eunuch , Disfigured , or Infirm . Chance increases at age 65 and 75.

Maybe devs just implemented it poorly? That would appear to be the case if it is indeed in the game files and code because it does NOT work like it would in reality but maybe thats the point I don't know. I do know that there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to illness as I've been cured from cancer only to have it kill me twenty or thirty years later. I have also had camp fever several times with one character and it was seduction focus sleeping with multiple lovers when that happened so perhaps it works like the lover's pox? You catch if from one of your lovers when not paying attention to their health closely enough. Anyone have any ideas on this it's another one that could be very useful to solve as I've lost more characters to illness than anything else so any info is appreciated as usual.
