CK2 Vs. XCom? Bad Percentages...
We should start making memes about CK2's percentages rather than XCom's hit percentages.

So for the TL;DR among you I'm gonna summarise my recent experience of terrible percentages...

>Playing as Norse Emperor of Britannia
>Got a good marshal skill at level 25 plus personal combat is boosted by certain events
>One of my vassals is mad at me and so threatens me with a duel
>Take a quick peak at his skills
>"Ha Level 1 marshal this should be easy. Let's kill this traitor."
>Accept duel followed by a prompt that when hovered over states 'Your chances of winning are very good."
>Vassal cuts off my hand leaving me maimed and severely wounded and I yield

Like seriously. It's like the equivalent of a guy without a weapon killing somebody with a machine gun from 10 metres away....

CK2 the new percentage meme... rise oh silent one.

(Just thought this was funny and might provoke a discussion so thought why not mention it here)

I used to be the Emperor of Britannia. But then I took a battleaxe to the hand.

Even if the chance of something bad happening is only 1%, there's still a chance.

Marshal skill is irrelevant for personal combat.
Yeah, the games tooltips are often misleading, if they exist at all, true.

It's modified by personal combat skill, not marshal skill. You wanna look at the lil shield thing in the bottom left by the traits. If there's not one there, their skill is 0.

Marshal is your ability to lead an army, your actual dueling skills is personal combat skills, which you can see by hover over the little shield by your traits as listed.

But even with very good skill, duels are dangerous, things can go wrong. For example you could enter the duel extemely overconfident in your chances of victory, letting your guard down

Regardless of the modifier I had a very good chance of winning according to the hover tip thingy and generally I tend to believe the game when it says that I think hmm there's practically zero chance of me losing this according to the game. I know he had 0 skill. I was definitely higher in personal combat than him. I'm not complaining because obviously this is percentages and you can't argue with percentages only laugh at the incomprehensibly unbelievable story he will have to tell to his grandkids.

Well atleast until I imprisoned and executed him.
Norse emperor is best tyrant lol

Still I only made this discussion to point out the xcom like resemblance I have experienced this time round and anybody who plays xcom will understand that standing at point-blank range to any alien with a 95-99% hit chance that it's so unbelievable when you miss you laugh and cry at the same time. If atleast one person giggles at the story then the discussion is worth it :)

Marshal is the council position, martial is the skill.

Failed imprisonments always feel more awful to me just 'cause it gives me the exact chance of success and when it goes wrong I know just how bad my day's really going.
