[TUTORIAL] How to put it in 1920x1080
1. Go in your videocard settings. (NVIDIA control Panel or AMD Catalyst)
2. Select Display > Change Resolution
3. Press customize and make a custom resolution to 2880 x 1620 and apply it.
4. Be sure the windows is now at this resolution, sometime it go back to the previous one instantly and you need to reapply it.
5. Start F1 Race Stars.
6. The resolution should show more resolutions INCLUDING 1920x1080.
7. Select it then put back your windows resolution to normal (I assume it's 1920x1080.)

The devs seems to blame the drivers, but it is not, there's clearly a problem with their hardware auto detect. And this is a pure example how it SHOULD NOT be implanted in any game.

Some may don't know what's resolution it is but hey, it's less trouble to the devs to explain how to change it instead of putting a broken hardware auto-detect.

I really like Codemasters, they are really good for racing games (Overload series is a must too).
But THIS is too much lol.

So please Codemasters, fix this or just remove the autodetect and let us choose the resolution how we want.

You should put the configs in a .ini or .txt files instead of XML. Way more simple i case of faulty hardware auto-detect function.

Thanks, and for those who have AMD, this bug happen on AMD GPU too, i just don't have AMD catalyst so i can't say how to do it step by step bbut it might help.
Anyone who can explain it for AMD feel free to do.

It somehow doesn't work for me.
I even deleted the config files in the game installation folder and redownloaded them after verification.

Any other solutions yet?
Any word from codemasters yet?

I run Win7 x64 with an NVIDIA GTX275.

This is something I don't wanna waste any more time with....

No 1080P on my (hdmi) Samsung 27" but when I make my Panasonic Plasma the primary I can run the game there @ 1080P.

This advice works, guys! Let's play F1 Race Stars online! We have only to syncronize the Racenet (Codemasters) account to the Steam account! Who did this add me to play!

Originally posted by Mardukias:
I was having this same issue, till I registered in https://racenet.codemasters.com/ then after you log in, select racestars game ( https://racenet.codemasters.com/racestars ) ..ok..in this page go for the top right corner and click in account configuration (the lil gear simbol beside your account name), then link/connect your racenet account to your steam account. Now its just join lobby ingame and wait, this worked for me. If there is anyone who wants to play this game online feel free to add me. And remmember, be patient in lobby (soon or later someone will join it) and make sure your router and firewall specs enable every port needed as well. Hope it was helpfull, bye.

Great advice, works a charm :KneelingBow:. Shame Codemasters have yet again dropped the ball.
They seem too cash hungry, focus on DLC. Rather than fixing bugs in inital realses and sorting out cheaters across their games. :helmet:

Thanks.

Yeah it's a shame, and their F1 Race Stars got abandoned since april.

I just hope since they finished most of the new F1 2013, if they could fix those bugs.
They were really great devs, but i'm disapointed of their work since the racing only change

I found out how to make the game run in full HD, fullscreen. First, select the highest resolution available (for me was 1680x1050) and select window mode. Then hit alt+enter and the game wiil go into 1920x1080 fullHd resolution with correct aspect ratio. When you check resolution in settings it will still show 1680x1050. you will have to repeat this steps every time you start the game. I hope this is useful for other players.

Already tested this, it's not 1:1 1080P
Danny 2014 年 3 月 23 日 下午 11:43
My monitor says that in-game resolution is actually 1080P. I'n not so sure about 1:1 1080p but it looks much better than 1650x1080 fullscreen.

take a screenshot to know the true resolution, it doesnt matter if the monitor says the signal is 1080p when you have an option for gpu based scaling for both ati & nv

EDIT: wow! ok.. so i changed the resolution in the config file \Steam\userdata\2141717\203680\local\hardwareconfig

guess what? in fullscreen it's 1680x1050, but in windowed it IS 1920x1080, wtf is wrong with codemasters... every other game of their engine is fine, plus you cant even change controls in race stars!? did they even make this...

i'm using the full version, not demo (i assume the demo doesnt get patched in case anyone is using that to test)

actually now that i think about it... since windowed is correct, if those borderless windowed tools work on race stars, that's probably the perfect solution...

Well, since you have to repeat those steps on every restart, I wouldn't call it the perfect solution, but it is another viable option.

I don't have to do it everytime here

In my case, for I could not set the nvidia video card resolution higher than 1920x1080 (which is insufficient here), the idea with a full hd tv helped. Connected via hdmi (output cloned), startet the game and F1 automatically set to 1920x1080. Just has to be repeated when the game is updated, but not everytime it is started.

2560 x 1440 is a more accurate resolution than 2880 x 1620

and safer because it is a standard resolution, work fine for fix this

It's not safer by itself.

The resolution barely matter anyway as it's just to let the game display 1080P as selectable resolution.
