Game crashes to desktop every couple of turns
Whew it's very frustrating.

Searching for the problem has shown that there are a lot of people with the same problem but I've been unable to find a solution.

1. The game's data has been verified.
2. Graphics card drivers and all other drivers up to date.
3. I generally do not have problems with other games.
4. I'm running Windows 8.1 and have a 5850 graphics card, 4GB RAM.
5. Don't know if it makes a difference but the game is installed to my D:\ drive.
6. At the official forums there's a sticky for CTD problems but a solution was never posted and it looks like all development for Warlock has stopped.

Has anyone found a solution to the constant crashes to desktop? Please help.

Have you tried it in safe mode?
Solitude Feb 10, 2014 @ 11:35pm
No, thanks supplican, I didn't realize that there is a safe mode. I see it when right clicking on the game and will try it out tonight.

What does safe mode do and why is there a better chance of it working in safe mode?
It crashed for me after a few turns.
I turned some settings down. I don't know which, but stuff I don't care for like... the cloud.

I'll try your idea kingj0n. I see that safe mode puts the game in 1024x768 resolution and everything set to its lowest and I'm definitely not going to play like that.
Yeah, I haven't crashed yet. I have it all max except the cloud. Maybe the shadow if there is an option for that too.

Mine crashes every 20 minutes now. I'll play around with the settings though. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Did you find a solution ? Mine crashes every couple of turns, with or not the safe mode.
Solitude Feb 22, 2014 @ 11:31am
Nope Mistogan, was unable to fix it unfortunately. The game is broken with no chances of getting fixed it would seem. I will most definitely not buy Warlock 2 and I will make sure that everyone I know not get it either.

Same issue ... keep crashing

same issue, I really like the game, but the constant crashing every other turn is making it unplayable

I've played over 400 hours of this game with no crashes.

The first thing is: never use the wide-view spell screen, that causes all sorts of problems. The second oen is, never alt-tab out of the game.

That aside it has to be a local problem. Check with ATI, nVidia or Intel for video driver updates.

Nope, I never alt-tabbed out of the game and I didn't make use of the wide-view spell screen.

I've got the latest drivers for my graphics card and don't have problems with other games.

Something is wrong with the game. It may only be on certain systems but the problem is there and the support is non-existent.

I'm glad that there are people who were able to play this game without any crashes since the game is fun. Unfortunately for many of us the game crashes constantly, making it unplayable.

If the problem is with the game, how is it possible that other people playing with the identical game code do not experience the problem?

It seems you did not read the entire paragraph. I specifically said: "It may only be on certain systems but the problem is there..."

Actually I can explain this to you logically.

I'm a programmer. Lets say I write a little program that works on all Windows machines except it crashes on machines with 5.1 surround sound speakers enabled.

Does the problem lie with the program or with the system?

My demo ran fine on two differnt computers (laptop and pc) with quite adiquate specs. WTF. Still playing with settings.
