The Other, Other Cave Question

It was offered as the the demo was verging into the full game. I skipped chosing the bonus quest. Can I access The Other, Other Cave at anytime by selecting 'New Game' and can I run that bonus game game save along side of the main quest save so items carry to the main quest or was my only opportunity to play 'The Other, Other Cave' when it was first offered?

I would play around in the New game screen, to try it myself, but afraid it might delete my current saves....

I don't think you can get to the bonus quest if you skipped it by accident. I did that too. It's a bit unfortunate it's not accessible after that one moment at which it appears.

I think the way to get to it would be to start a new game and play past the first dungeon to re-trigger it.

I also read that if you do choose the bonus quest you can't return to the main game until you've completed it.

Oh lame. Did I miss anything by not playing this? Like a mark of heroism?

Once you make a "prologue clear" save file you can "continue" from that file at any time to be offered the choice to continue with the main game or else do the other other cave mission. If, however, you choose to continue the main game without doing the other other cave first, you lose that option forever. So yes it is best to play it as soon as the opportunity comes up. And yes, you are stuck in the other other cave until you beat it. But there is a healer and there is a shepherd who sells milk. And the actual cave is pretty easy - as long as you know how to defeat bats, bees, and blue jellies. The boss is a bit of a handful - it's another skeleton warrior.

The only things you will "miss" from skipping the other other cave are a funny little scene when the skeleton dies, and a Skeleton Strap accessory item that boosts your Resist.
