Graphics settings
First of all, im running a GTX 680, but for some reason, I am limited to "Normal" graphic settings. Most of the settings, I can not select anything above normal, except for texture quality, which goes up to ultra. I also can not enable tessellation or tressfx. Has anyone heard of a problem like this? I've already verified all files. Deleted and re-installed the game, and tried 3 different driver sets with no change.

Can you post all your your computer specs from your dxdiag, like your CPU and Memory?

TR is a graphically demanding game. Do you have problems running other games that need a lot of PC power, like Crysis 3 or maybe Natural Selection 2?

I have a GTX 650 ti boost and I run TR with 60+ FPS on ultra as well, and about 25-30 with tressFX on, so I'm thinking it may be a separate piece of hardware that's causing the issue, OP.

By the way OP, don't bother with tressFX even if you can. It will hit your FPS hard and it's not a very effective graphical feature at this time. It needs work.

Weird that you cant even select the options.
My GTX 670 runs fine with everything on ultra +Tressfx...
Necrocis Aug 8, 2013 @ 2:02am
Drop down menus on the options page have choices for Low and Normal. Nothing for High or Ultra. There is also no checkbox for tessellation, and the hair quality is greyed out. Same thing in the options menu in game, greyed out, and can't take settings past Normal.

Windows 8 is known to be extremely buggy and dysfunctional with video gaming. That could very well be your problem, because the rest of your hardware looks more than capable of handling TR.

I purposefully put Windows 7 on my computer for this very reason. You may have to search online for a workaround, or perhaps other members on here have some suggestions for you.
|LW| JB Aug 8, 2013 @ 2:15am
Yup. Windows 8 seems to be the only reason i can think of thats causing this problem for you. CPU is fine (i have the same), GPU is fine (better than mine) and RAM is enough.
You said you already tried 3 different drivers so Win8 might be the problem.
Necrocis Aug 8, 2013 @ 2:16am
Anyone else out here running windows 8 with problems?
cSg|mc-Hotsauce Aug 8, 2013 @ 4:13am
just wondering...
why is your monitors refresh rate @ 59Hz?
can you try to use another display size other than 2560 x 1440?

Necrocis Aug 8, 2013 @ 11:04am
Well, it turns out it was SweetFX files causing the issue, removed them, now i can change the settings.
KillerKoala78 Aug 8, 2013 @ 12:09pm
FYI There's nothing wrong with Windows 8 and gaming. Tomb Raider works great for me on the highest settings without an issue.

you certainly dont have SSAA and tressfx on. I also have a 660ti and know damn well its way too sluggish on those settings and any review with benchmarks will back me up too.

No, there are a lot of gamers having problems with Windows 8 still. It's a known issue in the community. There are available workarounds but since I don't use W8, I don't know em.

I see threads like this pop up on forums everywhere almost weekly with people looking for W8 fixes.

Probably depends on the age of the games. Some aren't supported like Ubisoft's Driver: San Francisco on UPlay. Most of the games I have don't have any issues on Windows 8.
