FIX FOUND for "Failed to Initialize Direct3D with current settings" + "Options" won't open.
I gather that turning off "exclusive mode" helps, but as said Options won't even launch... it just crashes the menu.

All my drivers are up to date.

Windows 8
i5 3570k
7970 Radeon XFX
8GB of Ram

Any help is welcome.

EDIT:
Is there any way possible to edit the values of exclusive mode through regedit or something?

EDIT2:

Okay, so I had the problem with "Failed to Initialize Direct3D with current setting Options" when pressing Play and the Options in the launcher crashed it. Basically you have to turn off ExclusiveFullScreen and there isn't really way to do that except through this method because the options screen would just crash the launcher!

FIX: Press the windows key + R to bring up Run and run 'regedit'. So basically, you have to go into the registry under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Crystal Dynamics/Tomb Raider' . There, you have to create a subkey under Tomb Raider called 'Graphics'. In Graphics you need to create a DWORD called 'ExclusiveFullScreen' and set it to 0. (Should already be set to 0).
This will allow to you go pass the Play problem.

People have been saying to edit the registry and find such and such values. If you can't get pass the launcher, the game doesn't create any registry values, so there is nothing to edit. After you get pass the launcher and go back to the Tomb Raider registry, you will see a whole bunch of new values there. I just figured this fix out so bare with me on the instructions if they're not 100% clear.
Post feedback! Let me know if you're stuck!
It has in fact worked for me.

It is slightly advanced to do but possible.

It may be possible to edit the value for the exclusive fullscreen option through regedit allowing us to play but I honestly don't know for sure...

Your're not alone. I am having the exact same issue. I'm stumped as to what to do. Just sit and wait for an update?

or when the menu pops up before you get in the game - go into options and deselect the "exclusive fullscreen." No need to go into regedit.

For some people, like myself a many others, when ever you click on the options in the launcher, it causes it to crash and you can access the options before playing the game and this turns out to be the only way.

Would this work for a different game. Having the same error with it?

I have the same problem, but I can open my settings. However, turning off exclusive fullscreen doesn't help.

Thank you very much! I solved this problem! Little edit, when you are setting DWORD file you have to set it to 32-bit then it works!

I did that DWORD thing and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?
