FXAA vs SSAA
Which is better? I heard ssaa could be a huge performance hit. But I don't think it will be a problem. So which looks better?

4x SSAA looks absolutely amazing and way better than the FXAA or 2x SSAA.... however the performance hit is serious. The FXAA implementation is good though so I'm running with that.

If you can live with some jaggies using FXAA instead of 2x or 4x SSAA gives a big enough performance increase for Nvidia users to enable TressFX without the framerate hitches.

Yeah FXAA seems good enough but i'll have to try SSAA to see for myself.
With my setup, I cannot run with 4x SSAA. The framerate drops from 123 with FXAA in the benchmark to 20-something. And, 2x SSAA doesn't look very good and still gives comparatively bad FPS.

Also, oddly, no AA on creates strange flashes/tearing (not normal high FPS tearing) and only improves my FPS to 128.

Some people hates FXAA because it also blur textures and makes small font uggly, but the performance hit is so low :)
I like it.

Hey guys have a small problem. When you start the game you get the menu for options to adjust. Same thing like in Skyrim. The before ingame options so a seperate menu for graphics. Every time I switch to SSAA and press OK, the next time I am there it reverts to FXAA but the in the game optios menu if I set it to 4X SSAA it stays at 4X SSAA. Any idea why the launcher graphics menu resets the SSAA back to FXAA. I hope some one sees that.

I had the same problem late last night... never figured it out. But, since FXAA looks pretty good anyway, I stuck with it.
wait till official nvidia drivers come out before using SSAA. Even with my gtx 680 OC i cannot use SSAA without the game bugging out (Laras hair flashes and dissapears)

So with 314.07 Drivers SSAA does not register in the Tomb Raider launcher options menu. Is this why it reverts back to FXAA yet stays on under the in-game options. Very interesting. Well thanks for a fast reply will switch back to FXAA.

Yes I have noticed this as well she looks very funny.
The FXAA in this game is actually really damn good. It's probably the best version of it I've seen. It's almost identical t SMAA x4 at times.

Yeah it did that to me as well. I really wanted to see the game at it's full potential. It's a very beautiful game.

I'm using the new Nvidia Geforce GTX 780, and still only average about 37 fps while using 4x SSAA.

SSAA is very demanding. Try maxing out Crysis 3 on PC. You need GTX Titan or a sli of something like 580+ for starters. The 680,780 and titan is a lot better than 580 which is what I have but I can run 40+ fps crysis 3 on high without sacrificing quality.

Yeah I tried maxing it out. With a 660ti. You can only imagine how that went lol. I really want a 780 then sli it. But I'm waiting for the asus versions to come out.
