Crash fix for Nvidia cards, resolved tesellation/Sli issue for me
Hi All

Just thought i would post a fix i found experimenting with other profile settings using Nvidia Inspector.

The engine for Tomb Raider seems to have a lot in common with Hitman Absolution (a game i had a similar crashing issue with until Nvidia updated their driver profile).

Please note this was tested using Driver 314.07 , 2 x 670-gtx ,Windows 7

All you need to do is use Nvidia inspector to add TombRaider.exe to the Hitman Absolution profile, i have played the game with Maxed settings (using FX antialiasing) for 1:30 hours now with no crashing and great sli scaling. Just to make sure i tried five other profiles, all would crash in 5 or 10 minutes of use despite great sli scaling.

Sorry for the rushed post (dont have time to test on single card until later)

hope this helps.

you dont have to delete your tombraider profile just export the hitman absolution profile to a file and then import it to the tombraider profile from that file

Gotcha thanks! Found the profile area finally lol

Dang didn't work =/ Crashed on me as well.

Edit: Ok so I figured out how to add the TombRaider.exe to the Hitman: Absolution profile and it 100% completely fixed the crashing with tessalation on. It works flawless now. Even works perfectly with the new update and I even notice a slight improvement in FPS with tressFX enabled as well. Finally! thanks for the find TC

Game is acting funny for me when I first installed TR I was useing the 306 Nvidia drivers the only issue I was haveing was when info pages would appear it would sometimes freeze the screen, then I thought ok upgrade to 314 drivers for my GeForce 680 and its so bad crashes once every 40mins older drivers were more stable hopebut the new drivers gave me a Fps increase will wait for a fix

Don't stop bumping this thread.

All you need to do is first disable the TR 2013 profile in Nvidia Inspector, then add tombraider.exe to the Hitman: Absolution profile and the game is fixed.

Works with the newest drivers and settings on ultimate, including tesellation.

As for why this fixes the problem, it would seem they used the same engine, as it causes very similar crashes and is fixed by using the hitman profile.

Keep this bumped.

this has resolved the issue entirely for a few people I know.

Thanks for reporting this, OP!

So this is confirmed to enable SLI support for the WHQL drivers then?

This worked perfectly for me. 2x 680's in SLI and a 3930K proccessor. I played for 2 hours on Ultimate with TressFX and Tesselation on. I dont expect it to crash anytime soon.

I'm new to Inspector. I tried adding Tomb Raider's .exe and it told me that a profile for Tomb Raider (2013) already exists. I did however just update to beta drivers. Should I try the game or do the new drivers not fix the problem? Do I have to delete that profile in order to assign Tomb Raider to Hitman? Also, does nVidia inspector have to be running in order for the profiles to work? Like should I have it auto startup?

Yes, you should delete the profile, the profiles will be reset the next time you install a driver, which will hopefully include the official fix by nvidia.
The 314.14 beta drivers do not fix the problem, they were general enhancements, nothing TR specific, they do however improve overall performance for, well everything. The official one will probably improve performance for TR even further.

Also, no Nvidia Inspector does not have to be running for the profile to work.

And deftone, yes the SLI profile works fine too.

This fix actually works for my two 680s. Thanks.

will this screw up me playing Hitman?

It shouldn't since all the fix does is add the tombraider.exe to that profile and still keeps the hitman exe in place.

Keeping this up.
