Whether you like it or not she is Lara Croft. Can you elaborate what exactly is wrong with her figure in your opinion?
My first girlfriend was 5'1". I'm 6'4". You wanna talk about small women, that is a small woman.
As far as I'm concerned 5'6" is a pretty solid height for a woman. It'd be nicer if they were closer to 6', given my own height, but it could be a lot worse than 5'6".
As far as averages go, 5'6" is pretty much middle of the pack. Not short but not tall. That's what the developers were going for I suspect.
So you're basically saying that if you can reach the minimum height of being a runway model.. you're an average woman. That doesn't justify anything.
I agree that she is short for her character but they wanted to emphasise that she is an average woman that has been thrust into a menacing environment, not a super-human lara that has incredibly massive boobs, a minute waist, and dynamo legs. I think that that's what the devs were trying to avoid so she becomes a more realistic character. Where they failed in expanding on her character (as they had the opportunity to, since it is a reboot) is her character development. For a survivor to be 'reborn' as it were, I was expecting to see the build up of Lara and actually getting to see this new character begin to evolve in to a new and improved tomb raider, but that's where it fell short.
I'm not really sure how you decided the character development fell short. The progression from scared Lara to competent Lara to Badass Lara was actually really well handled and integrated into gameplay a lot better than I was expecting.
Take her first conversation with Roth over the radio. She asks him to come pick her up. He declines, so she is forced to pick herself up and make her way to them.
This decision was integrated into the gameplay; Lara is forced to climb down a really shady ladder following some really creepy music. It was her only option, and she chose to force herself forward rather than hide.
Then when she finally meets up with Roth quite a while later, she's still hesitant to go it alone. But she finds the strength to climb a mountain, literally, in order to get their signal out.
I can trace her character development step by step through the whole game. Every change in her character corresponds with an event in the narrative. Every change of tone in her dialogue can be connected to a situation she survived.
Her character development was actually the best part about this game.
I'm really not sure how you could conclude otherwise. Maybe you simply weren't paying attention.
All really good points, except maybe the fit-easier thing; shorter women tend to have... deeper chests. Body fat distribution, you know.
Other than that, yeah, a slightly below average frame is an advantage, and she is fit enough to potentially mitigate the previous grievance.
