Tomb Raider crashing at start/BSOD
I have been having major problems running this game on my PC since I installed it, after numerous checking files and re-installing the game will not run and will sometimes cause my machine to BSOD. When I verify the files it may download and install a file, this may or may not let me run the game as far as selecting a save and then crash. If this did not work I have several times deleted all content and re-downloaded the game, again this may work to get to the loading screen the crash out or BSOD. I have made sure all my drivers etc are the latest ones and the computer is well above minimum spec. This is the only game I seem to have this problem with. If anybody can help I can upload any dump files as required.

As has been mentioned before (HUNDREDS OF TIMES...) please post your system specifications so people who respond have some idea what you're trying to run the game on. CPU, GPU, operating system, installed ram, desktop or laptop system, other programs that you're running at the same time, etc.

I'm sure you're not the first person to have your particular problem with Tomb Raider - there are LOTS of posts regarding this game and issues running it so it's likely that there's been a solution discovered already. But you waste time just telling us it doesn't work - provide the information as noted and I'm sure you'll get a better response.

As usual steam has checked the file and finds it needs to re-down-load one.

While its re-downloading the file I'll just mention that I have Comodo Internet security premium installed, it has been popping up on occasion and blocking Tomb Raider (I have tied switching it off but still have the problems).

Ok the file downloaded so tried yet again to run TR, gets as far as trying to load a save game then stops working as before. Just downloaded the latest AMD beta driver but no joy. I have all these MDMP files but don't know what to do with them as I cant read them properly.

Going to delete local files and re-download/install yet again.

if you have pop up and blocking with the Comodo internet security.
then open the comodo internet security and see if you can find allow application and add Tomb raider and steam. i have feeling that its Comodo internet security that is blocking the game but i could be wrong.

I'm running it on a 2-year old desktop system that I put together myself (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition, AMD Radeon HD 6870, 16GB installed ram) without any issue - your system should probably be able to run it far better, but I suspect the AkaYo is correct - I've tried Comodo's Internet Security suite before and found it a bit too much for my needs (the built-in firewall in Windows 7 is pretty good and I prefer the free Avast! anti-virus program to Comodo's).

Have you tried running the game at lower graphical settings (it may be an issue with tesselation or exclusive fullscreen) and then trying the high and ultra settings? I'm using the same AMD drivers and I've had none of the issues you're showing (I recently moved from the 13.4 Catalyst drivers to the 13.9 ones and seen no real difference...

This may sound silly but if you run "dxdiag" from the start menu does it come up as DirectX 11?

ok I've managed to solve the problem, it was Comodo, it seems like it was somehow corrupting files when blocking TR. I fixed the problem by letting it block TR, clicking on the TR file name that it came up with, selecting add this program to safe zone or such like. Then deleted local file/re-download and re-install TR. I then was able to play the game last night for hours with no issues. I was surprised that this worked because I had selected 'do not block again' on many occasions with no joy.
Many thanks guys for your input :0)

No problem - not surprised to hear it was Comodo - some of those programs can be a little too aggresive when it comes to blocking "questionable" programs (I'm finding the new release of Avast! seems to be a bit too fussy when it comes to some of the programs on my system - I may need to look for another program...)
