Game crashes every 5 minutes with Nvidia Geforce 670 GTX
It seems that this game has not been optimized for NVIDIA 670 GTX gpu. Game works perfectly and FPS is ok with all options enabled, but it crashes every five minutes (back to desktop with error message: tomb raider stopped working + error message from keppler graphic card)

I tried to disable several options as it apparently solved the issue for certain GTX users in March 2013, but does not help. I updated my nvidia drivers (331.93) but does not help.

Faced the same kind of issue when I purchased Hitman several months ago (but was then fixed by Nvidia). It's a shame from square enix to release games which only performs well on AMD gpu (or otherwise this should be clearly indicated before NVIDIA users purchase it).

Do you know whether there is any solution to fix these recurrent crashes?

****

Update: It seems to be solved now, have not had any crash after 2 hours. Have not yet been able to identify what caused the issue.

Have you OC'd your GPU yourself ? If so, lower the overclock as it can cause crashes on a few games. I would also recommend you disable SSAA (which I take you enabled when you claimed "all options enabled" as it's incredibly taxing).

Aside from that it sounds like a driver issue to me...Here (GTX770) and 331.82 driver no problem.

EDIT : disable tessellation as well, GTX GPUs had problem with it in the past.

Thanks

No personal OC (it's OC by Zotac - Zotac GTX 670 power Amp 2go).

Tried to install new beta drivers.. it is worse as it now crashes every 2 minutes (in particular during cut scenes) It also crashed when I tried to change Graphic options in game (reactivation of SSAO).

Tried to disable SSAO, Exclusive Full Screen, Tesselation, Tress FX) it works well (more than 100 FPS) but then crashes without any reason (short freeze, back to windows with sound continuing, then error message)

Game works perfectly on my GTX670 in 1080p/ultimate settings.
What are the other specs of your PC?
°Yk° P - SEB™ 2013 年 12 月 24 日 上午 8:25
Tried with previous driver (320.49) without tesselation, Tressfx and extensive full screen. Crashed after 5 minutes again.

I think it clearly comes from GPU but below full specs of my PC (if it helps):

I7 3770 K CPU @ 3.5 ghz
16 Go RAM
Geforce GTX 670 - Zotac Power Amp! Edition 2 go
Windows 7 64 bits
Windows on SSD drive
Games on regular HDD

The latest game where I experienced serious issues was Hitman (but was then fixed (but I remember I had to disable some options like SSAO)

I also have crashes in Rome 2 total war (but not very often) - which is inherent to TW series

No other crashe in any other game so far (well a couple in Far Cry 3, but very limited).

Do not know what to do.. having a game which crashes every 3 minutes for no reason is not really fun (luckily there are lot of autosaves spots) and I am getting tired to re launch this game endlessly.

Do not know what to do (tried everything (new drivers, old drivers, lower graphic options, run the game as administrator only). Nothing worked so far..

Thank you all for your help.

320.49 is too old. Try the 327.23 WHQL.

sugestion Underclock your card look around and see what the default settings are supose to be and set it at that manually with the short freeze then crash on video out sounds like the gpu is freaking out. Ive had problems in the past with cards that are factory overclocked and they may work great on 1 2 or 5 games and you get that one that the gpu just dont like being overclocked. Symptoms of gpu overclock to far video freeze or video freeze then crash and even total lock up with the computer and have to hit the reset button to reboot the machine. Memory overclock to far video distortion or pixelation and imperfections.

I am reinstalling 331.82 now (which is the latest one available (no beta). Will try again with no tesselation etc. and keep you posted (but I do not have much hope).

Apart from the CPU we have the same setup.
I5-3570K, Asus GTX670 DC2, 16GB Ram, Win7 64bit, 240GB SSD drive.
Try installing the game on the same drive (SSD) as Windows.

New drivers. Put all options to "normal" Worked for 1 minute.. sick of it.

Do not know how to underclock my graphic card (and not sure I want to do this just for this **** poorly optimised game). This is just a shame that it does not work or has not been properly improved since March 2013.

Will wait for new NVIDIA drivers and hope that it solves the problem. Meanwhile I will play to something else and will from now carefully check whether there are any serious issues reported for Square Enix Games before purchasing it.

Nvidia tools from nvidia website enables overclocking and you can down clock it from there. Well that is if you want to try and get the game to work. Problem is even though you have a factory overclocked card the drivers and software wont bother it and see it as default because of firmware loaded from factory in the card. The software from Nvidia will make a diffrence after install enable overclock and slide the gpu bar down 50 - 100 points. You may wanna move the memory bar down at least 50 points as well. That is if you wanna figure out the problem or just replace the card completly if you have a spare or the money to spend. Obviously others with the same card are doing fine its just not that card.

Update - seems that the crashes resulted in other games crashing - Downloaded Wargames European Escalation 3 days ago, worked all fine till I tried to run Tomb Raider with the issues indicated below (had played more than 7 hours without any crash). Now, it crashes after 2 minutes (freeze and back to windows, the game is not indicated as "not working" under task bar and sound keeps playing.

I tried two other games (Rome 2 and Bioshock) and luckily no crash on these.

Will then try the decrease of overclocking as suggested above. I am not really a specialist so could you please confirm what I should decrease (GPU memory clock (currently 3304) or graphic clock (currently set at 705 mhz) or both?

thanks

**** UPDATE

Tried reducing GPU Memory clock ; Both tomb raider and Wargame European Escalation crashed. Other games still working. I am quite disappointed (to say the least) that this game crashed both itself and another great game on which I have been playing without any issue untill yesterday when I encountered several crashes in TR.

It sounds to me like your graphics card is defective, contact zoltec and tell them what is happening. If it is still under warranty you should get a new card.

Maybe, but is still indicated as "working" in windows and do not have crashes with previous games (and I play with ultra settings with both Rome 2 and Bioshock infinite). I never had an issue before trying to play to Tomb Raider.
