Mathias is cheating...

I can't for the damn life of me beat the FINAL fight against Mathias. Right at the start when he knocks Lara down and you have to mash "E" to get to the next part....

I mash it to all hell and the ♥♥♥♥er ALWAYS wins. This ♥♥♥♥ is stupid! Is something broke, I haven't changed ket assignments around or anything. This isn't broken on the PS3 verison...

If I remember correctly after smash E you must push F.

Mashing the "E" key as hard as you can, holding it down, or hitting it too fast will result in you dying - you have to TAP the key repeatedly - probably at a slower speed than you think - it's the same as when you fought the first Russian before you made your first kill.

SLOW DOWN and tap the E key repeatedly - then shoot the SOB when you get the chance...

hhmm, Interesting. I don't recall having to do this in the PS3. But worth a shot. Thanks.

"F" showed up first(when you stab him with the climbing axe) then "E", I didn't even get to a second "F" input.

Okay...solved and got it. Straight mashing it is too much or something, mashing it at a pace didn't seem to do much either. but pressing it with the indicator...worked.

Thanks, this is done. Now I can blow off multiplayer acheivements....hate those so much.

Absolutely this.

I lowered my Res and tried to play with the windowed screen mode off. Neither of them worked.

You have to slow down the mashing and do as GoBucks says; steady (But slower) mashing does the trick. If you keep mashing like crazy (And I tried both on Keyboard and on a controller) it doesn't work.

I'm having the exact same struggle. I've beaten this on Xbox a couple years ago and it was easy, but now that I'm going at it with a keyboard it just seems impossible.

Within each QTE is a series of commands you must perform, of those there is one (1), that decides if you win or lose, in the fight you speak of it's the ax strike, without it the fight is over and you lose. Like the wolves or the russian again only 1 command sets the QTE in motion, find it and you win.

Very easy to get this wrong through fault of the developers, not the players. I'd imagine that the scripting is somewhere along the lines of "If player pressed 'E' >/=30 then play cutscene", but clearly not from needing to slow the mashing down

Did you do it on keyboard or controller?
Either way, it asks you to do something fast, and it fails if you do it too fast. It makes no sense

No clue I haven't touched this game in over 2 years, I got it on sale with the Tomb Raider Collection, I have it on PS3 first...and $17 for 7 TR was too much to resist. I beat it easily on PS3....this was the only part I had trouble with. But again...haven't touched it in over 2 years, I really have no clue how this got back up...and it has turned nasty :/
