If you have to 'struggle' in an event, you're going to be using whatever you bound as your movement keys. Typically, this is A (Left) and D (Right). Take a look in the keybindings and pay attention to the four binds with red symbols next to them. They will be used in the QTEs: Use (E), Melee (F), Dodge (Shift), and Jump (Space). Hope that helps.
There's a chance that game is glitching because of running in too many FPS. It's known for causing a lot of weird issues not only in this game, but also in 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' and 'Shadow of the Tomb Raider', so I wouldn't be surprised if that was it. And it'll take you literally few moments, so it seems worth giving a shot.
Thanks for the update and enjoy the rest of the game ;)
I get where you're coming from.
Bugs notwithstanding, it's an issue of UI clarity and the game being designed with consoles in the forefront of their mind. The weird thing, for me, is that it should be pretty simple to code for indicating whichever keys the player has for Left and Right -kind of like they show the QTE symbol when fighting the wolf, but at the bottom of the screen they tell you what button that is based on you keybinds.
It's a weird issue to have, but, hey, enjoy the game.
I've seen mentioned, in a different game page, that if your fps is too high, the prompt doesn't always appear, or does appear but disappears too quickly. If you limit fps to 60, they appear as they should. This is an older game that that one, which makes the fps 'fix' more likely to work.
Saying that, I'm getting an average fps of 120 without getting this issue, but I am using a Steam controller.
