She did go with her parents to archeological dig sites, and on hiking and climbing trips with Roth, so you never know what adventures spawn from these events in future titles.
The entire frachise has been re-invented (again) therefore, the original concept (Tomb Raider to Tomb Raider Chronicles also Angel Of Death) does not apply to this incarnation of the character or stories. Nor do the more recent versions (Tomb Raider Legend to Tomb Raider Underworld, which also saw many changes to Lara's origins, regarding such involvement of Werver Von Croy, Christopher/Henshingly Croft and Lara's mother etc.).
There is no way to merge or reconcile the canonicity of these differing incarnations, except to suggest that all the previous games (LCGoL may also be included here) simply do not apply at all and that what is portrayed and described within the 'new' "Tomb Raider" is the relevant information and accurate detail of Lara Croft and hewr history/personality that can now be accepted as canon if you would choose to continue with the current 'series' of the TR franchise.
One does hope that this survives with greater longevity than its predecessors, but the videogame industry is a fickle beast - there's no guarantee that Lara Croft or Tomb Raider wont undergo further re-invention in the future, however I do believe, personally, that the franchise in whatever form will continue for some years.
