Why do Americans say Lara's name wrong?
When I watch Tomb Raider videos on Youtube or even read forum posts here, Americans always call her Laura/Lora or Larra, as in Larry.

Why? Her name is Lara.

Isn't it pronounced like "lah-rah"?

I say it that way anyway.
I think alot of people need to realize theres sort of a "h" sound after La and Ra. So when you say it, its more of a "Lah-Rah". At least its how I say it. Only because its how she says it with her british accent. I know many americans named Lara and it sounds the same.

i don't know
Also people say "Lor-Ah" but don't realize her name is not "Laura" like it normaly is, its why they pronounce it wrong. There is no "U" in her name. Hence its Lah-Rah.
I've always pronounced it as it is pronounced in the game. I mean, it's not that hard.

It's not hard at all which is why it annoys me.

Plenty of Cherokee Indian words/names of places around here that few outside of the region can pronounce correctly. To me it's not hard to say these words at all, but someone saying them wrong doesn't annoy me.

Yeah, but her name is said correctly in the game multiple times and people still say it wrong or flat out call her another name. That Angry Joe guy for example, says Laura.

There is no "sort of "h" sound" after anything. It's pronounced ['la:ra], exactly how you'd pronounce syllables "La" and "Ra" separately.

Their mother was a hampster and their father smells of elderberries. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

It makes me laugh that Americans took the U out of all these words and now they're trying to put it back.
