interesting issue with this game
So I am running steam big picture mode on my 46inch 1080P tv, had the readjust resolution of my desktop screen to fit the screen.
Every game I put up to 1080P resolution fills up entire screen without anything cut off. but when I put tomb raider on 1080 resolution, it gets cut off at edge as if my desktop was cut off before I did the readjust resolution size to fit screen.

My question is, how come tomb raider game is doing this, but every other game is fit to screen at 1080 rez? any suggestions? I did a google search but only comes up with either 4K resolution tvs, or talking about tomb raider definitive edition.

EDIT:PC is hooked up with HDMI cord to tv, just an fyi.

Have you tried turning Exclusive Fullscreen mod on and off?

Yes, doing so will only give me the rez for the desktop size which was not 1080, exclusive fullscreen mode on, will enable me to choose 1080 resolution.

In Tomb Raider what they call as Exclusive Fullscreen Mode is actually normal Fullscreen and normal Fullscreen is actually a 'Borderless Windowed Fullscreen Mode'. So when Exclusive Fullscreen option is checked you will be playing the game in traditional fullscreen, when unchecked you will be playing the game in 'Borderless Windowed Mode'.

What that means is that for example if you have multiple monitors and you play with Exclusive Fullscreen Mode, only your primary monitor will work and the rest will turn off. But if you play the game without Exclusive Fullscreen Mode you will be able to see other monitors as well.

I know it's a dumb question but have you tried Ctrl+Enter or Ctrl+Alt or Alt+Enter ?

Haven't tried the alt+enter yet, but will tomorrow

Not sure but does this game use aspect ratios? as well as screen resolutions.
If so check your aspect ratio.

I was having the same issue & I found that it was actually a setting on my TV causing the issue. The RGB settings on the TV's HDMI were set to limited, but when I changed it to full everything started working fine. If your TV does not have this setting you may be out of luck. :(

Ok, hope I can explain this right. First, I use a 55" Samsung t.v.

1. When you use a 46" t.v. or larger, you have no need for Big Picture mode! [just play games fullscreen]
2. Since you thought you needed to change your screen Res. when you hooked up your t.v. via HDMI, you must have had the desktop too large to fit your screen. You did not need to change the resolution. Heres what you do need to do to make the desktop background and everything else fit;
A. Change your Res back to where it was before you hooked up to your t.v. via HDMI.
B. Most new HD t.v.'s have a specific HDMI or DVI to HDMI connection for computers. On my Samsung it is the HDMI 4 imput that is for pc's. Make sure you are using the right HDMI connection. [your t.v. manual has that info and it may say pc port on the back of your t.v above one of your HDMI connections.
C. Using your t.v.'s remote, go to source, select your t.v.'s HDMI connection that is for pc's. select tools, then select "Edit Name". You will have several options, choose pc! Once you edit the name of the HDMI connection to pc, all images will now fit the screen without having to adjust your Res. You can now play Tomb Raider and it as will all games, fit your screen.

* Doing this may seem silly, but thats the way the newer t.v.'s work when hooking up a pc via HDMI.

** I play all games at 1080p and it works great once you rename the input to pc.

OOPS, I forgot to mention that your pc MUST be running when you edit the name of the HDMI input!!!

Well I will try this first and see if it does anything.

Thought only certain consoles had that option? Will give this a try as well.

No aspect Ratio option.

Ok stupid me, it does have the aspect ratio option, but no fix by changing the ratio. I did look in the options of my TV, I could only manually rename the label for the tv, I saw an option to choose either widen the size of the picture, normal, cinema, etc. Choosing it normal and then choosing 1080 resolution on my desktop made the desktop fit the size of the tv perfectly, but the game is still making it larger than the desktop size so it gets cut off like before. I did try the window mode, it looks like it fits full size without any cut outs, but I still have the border issue and the start menu taskbar below the game showing. I could just hide the taskbar, and make the game exclusive full screen while windowed, but is that really 1080P resolution ingame?
Daisuke Hanata Jan 23, 2014 @ 11:42am
Iono how it worked, but now it is full screen, windowed, without borders, and not cut off. just have to hide taskbar. I mean is this really the fix for it?

EDIT: And yes it is 1080P rez now.
EDIT 2 : Turning off exclusive fullscreen does it.
