I do wish I could turn off the enemy taunts because it's annoying how they will say the same things again and again.
Maybe next time I will play through in Spanish. xD But I'd still like to disable their taunts. >.>
Is that why she can't even pull of a proper English accent?
She is a good voice actress and can deliver EMOTIONAL lines, but her accent is the biggest key factor and she fails at that. No dispute. A lot of people see this flaw. She's definitely improving if we have the new ROTR to go by, but she was also good in 'Turning Point'. She just has her moments. I'm still skeptical of this women.
The OP is right, though. Out of all the VO's of Lara Croft, she is the worst when it comes to screams and whining. I hope they hire someone else for such things, that SCREETCH when she falls or jumps for things (in the ROTR trailer... jesus) is the worst. She should stick to just speaking lines and let a VO take over the other noises Lara makes.
You're definitely not in any minority. Camilla has been critically slated for her accent and protrayal of Lara Croft by MANY people. A lot of fans of the game aren't even happy with her. This teeny forum isn't representative of anything.
We didn't need that image. lol
To be fair tho theres a ♥♥♥♥ load of people who go to university then come home losing all regional dialect inheriting the same monotomous accent. Lara has travelled a bit. I enjkoyed the vulnerability of a young Lara. the old Lara was a man eater. I reckon I could go a couple of rounds with this one. Maybe not in the sequel but still
I'm not new to any of this, I'm well AWARE of Camilla's background considering I followed her and the game heavily during development. My point remains and I'm not even sure you've constructed a proper point (why are you telling me she's British, then saying she's not and trying to excuse it? You're only conforming to my point).
She's British, but doesn't sound like it for the most part. She's lost her accent. Watching American TV doesn't help you loose your accent, though, lol. I've watched American TV my whole life, when I leave the house, there's still people of my locale around so it's pretty hard for TV to have that affect considering such things. It's obviously because she has been in America.
Anyway, Lara should SOUND British. She attented Uni in England and also (to my knowledge - I'm not fresh on her bio considering they've changed too many damn times) has had limited adventures till the events of Yamati, don't forget that Lara is broke and actually needed financial aid of others to actually take part in this adventure that happened in the game (read the comics).
There's not really any excuse for Lara's accent not sounding British. Despite her Parent's abscence, Roth still looked after her, so there's not really any influence to explain why she sounds English/American (yes some of the words in Camilla's delivery DO sound like this).
That's pretty much a DUMB logic you've got there.
My comment wasn't particularly aimed at you. I never tried to say she wasn't British. I merely stated IMDB's comment on excusing her hybrid accent.
I found this softer accent appealing and felt it went well with this version of Lara. My opinion probably doesn't mean much. I didn't follow Camilla and the games development. Nor am I interested in reading comics.
