Yes, already tested Microsoft store version, but unfortunately the game refuses to launch. Hence, do not buy it on Microsoft Store. It has serious technical issues whatsoever.

I hope this update won't be forced on steam. I'm interested in trying it out, but I didn't like Lara's appearance.

It's not an update to this game, it's a whole new game and running a better version of the engine that's slightly worse than one in Rise of the Tomb Raider. If and holy hell it better release on Steam, it'll be called Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.

I was referring to the case when a free replacement is made for a definitive edition for all owners of the original

I don't understand the hate on Lara's appearance in DE. Now she looks adentical to her appearance in the intro CGI and promotional art works. Her old face was the weird one lol

The model looks weird by itself on DE and her face barely shows any emotions in comparison.
In some of those screenshots it even looks like her eye sockets are lower and her eyes don't even seem properly focused on what she's supposed to be looking at or something, I would like the new face if it looked more like that mod

oh I see it now. It looks a bit weird sometimes. I thought people were just hating her new face because it was simply different. But if modders manage to fix her eyes than it'll be perfect.

Considering that there is a First Person Mode and several bug fixes for The Evil Within exclusive to Microsoft Store, I think this is the direction the industry is going now.

You're referencing a literal mod and model port of the newer model onto the 360/PS3 version of the game and the remastered model doesn't even quite match the original so of course it's off when you can't modify the animations to fit it with the old one.

The old version is lacking the detailed animations from the Xbone/PS4 version.

I would probably still choose the mod over it (if I had to, otherwise I'm just fine with the original model anyway), since it feels even more broken to me in a way that matters more IMO, the mod looked pretty good in the videos I'd seen and some shadow issue was fixed by disabling tessellation I think, which apparently doesn't even work in DE anyway so it would make sense.
That being said, we can always access older builds through steam so I'm hoping we do get DE and maybe someone can attempt to take the best from each version
