This game makes my PC shut down...
So I just barely got this game, and have absolutely loved what I have played. But after about an hour of playing it my entire computer will just shut off and I don't know why. It isn't over heating, and I've kept the task manager open and checked on it occasionally to make sure it is taxing my lap top to much, and it seems to be fine on that count, so I really don't know what to do. If I wait to start playing it for a while it is good for another 45 minutes to an hour before shutting off again, but if i just start up again I get maybe 5 minutes of gameplay before my computer shuts down again.

Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas about how to fix it?

Thanks

I had this issue sort of, when i was using a Radeon HD 6870 early last year. It would happen after about 1 hour of this game and a few others. Mostly driver related, I But to get it working right I had to reinstall windows completley from registry corruption. But in short the GPU did get up to 90°C. Do you use something to keep an eye on temps while gaming like MSI afterburner or HWinfo.

You say it is not overheating. Did you check the temps?
Because what you describe sounds a lot like your PC is indeed overheating...
What are your specs?

Or his motherboard failing. I had this problem way back and found out my board was dying

I haven't been measuring the temp specifically, but I have been keeping it elevated so the fan can be more effective, and I occcasionally feel it with my hand to see how it is doing, and I've had my laptop feel a lot hotter at other times than when it has been shutting down.
My processor is AMD A8-4500M APU 1900 MHz 4 core
My Graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 7640G
and I have 3 available Gigabytes of RAM

If you're having an issue with the laptop running a bit hot, a laptop cooler can be helpful - there are several out there with built-in fans that connect to a usb port and will significantly reduce the temperature of your system. Or you can use a more passive solution (I use a Logitech N315 lapdesk and it does an excellent job of providing a stable and cool surface that I can use sitting on the couch or lying in bed...)

On the other hand, you might be suffering from your system overheatting due to blocked air vents (the compressed air suggestion is a good one) or a failure with the thermal paste on your cpu or gpu - that could make it likely that your system would shut down after a short period of extended use.
